affected by the trade regulations and tariff of the Brexit. The company was
also affected by the change in government policy.
Economic factor- The factors are related to the exchange rate, inflation, tax
rate, labor etc. it affects the consumption of buyers and business profit. The
rise in inflation rate affects the Marks & Spencer operations in the economy
regarding the price of product& services (Solomon, R.C., 1992).
Technological factor- The technology advancement provides the opportunity
to the Marks & Spencer in introducing the multiple self-checkout stores and
increased the usage of artificial intelligence for checkout in future.
Business impact on external environment
The Marks & Spencer implemented the green policy to gain the
sustainability in the environment. To increase the sales the
company offered the discounts on the clothes that attract more
customers and leads to compete with the competitors. By the
adoption of advanced technology it started providing various
facilities to the customers of self-check out and better customer
services. The company follows the legal laws as to protect the
data of the consumer and the safety of the employees. Marks &
Spencer adopted the waste management practices located in
urban area for environment cleaning and protection.
Internal Factors
It defines those factors that can be controlled by the
firm and deceits within the business if they are
material or immaterial. The following factors assist
in identifying the advantages and disadvantages of
the business.
Employees and managers- The personnel are
deliberates most valuable advantage of the
business in the internal environment. The
workforces of Marks & Spencer are very skillful
and decent in their jobs to sell the product which
primes to upsurge the sales and effectiveness.
Company culture- The Marks & Spencer is also
affected by the internal culture encompassing of
values, attitudes and priorities that workforces
have. There prevails cutthroat culture where
employees compete with each other to generate a
diverse environment from the business that
