Business environment includes all the internal and
external environment which influences the functioning
and profitability of the business, both internal and
external factors together makes the business
environment. For this presentation Unilever is taken into
consideration. Unilever is well established consumer
goods company, founded in 1929 serving globally. The
external and internal factors affecting business are
highlighted

External Environment
External Environment: The external factors includes all the
factors available outside the business which can directly
influence the functioning of the business. Some of the external
factors affecting the Unilever are as follow:
Political factors: The political factors includes factors like
government rules and regulations, laws which directly
influence the functioning the business. The stable political
environment will have favourable impact of the Unilever and
vice versa.
Economic factors: The economic factors includes factors like
demand and supply, interest rate, inflation rate, recession,
labour and so on. The develop economy will have positive
impact on the Unilever but in case of poor economy will effect
the company’s growth and development.
Technological factors: Any change in the technology will
directly influence the functioning of the business, the Unilever
needs to ensure that they are technologically updated in order
to meet with changing demand of their customers.
How the company impact its context

The various ways in which the business can impact in
the external factors in context to the Unilever are
discussed below:
Company needs to continuously analyse the external
environment and understand the changes and
accordingly implement the strategies in order to deal
with the changes.
The company can regularly update their technology in
order to effectively deal with the technological
changes.
Company should offer unique and differentiated
products in order to gain competitive advantage in the
marketplace and satisfy their customers effectively.
In addition to this company needs to ensure that they
are working in the well developed economy and
positive political environment which will leads to their
growth and development.

Internal factors: The internal factors includes all the factors
present inside the business Some of the internal factors
which can affect the Unilever are as follow:
Organisational culture: One of the essential factor that can
effect the functioning of the business is the organisational
culture, company like Unilever operates globally and needs
to deal with different culture, not effective managing culture
can affect the functioning of the business.
Organisational structure: The another internal factor that
can affect the functioning of the company is the
organisational structure, not having proper structure or
understanding of roles and responsibility can effect the
functioning of Unilever.
Employees: The human resource or employees are the
essential part of any business, and can directly influence the
functioning of the business, Unilever needs to ensure that
their employees are effectively managed.
