INTRODUCTION
Business information system can be considered as an effective procedure that helps a
company in managing all the work through developing and infrastructure which stays
interrelated with all the functions. With the help of this, an organisation becomes able to perform
the operations in much more effective and efficient manner from the traditional approach, which
was both time taking and costly in nature. Basically, it helps in gaining the data in regards to all
the resources of IT infrastructure and helps in inputting it within the business environment that
leads to the company to attain different range if goals and objectives. Under this report,
organisation which has been taken into consideration that is British Home PLC. It is a medium
sized group handling various kinds of subsidiaries of among different sectors like retail, travel
and property with consultancy in order to gain potential outcomes (Mursu, Soriyan and Korpela,
2018). It also includes different IT systems store or process the data for various aspects to gain
potential outcomes. Along with this, report is based on the use or significance of the IT systems
within the different functions of organisation and way the IT systems contribute in achievement
of objectives in proper manner.
TASK 1
P1 Evaluate the use and significance of IT systems within different functions of organisation.
Information technology is defined as using of computers, manipulating data and
information. IT is used within business organisations for making working efficient and effective.
This is an information system which is opposed to entertainment and personal technologies.
This is subset of communication technology as well as information technology. The
advancement in IT implies that there must be increment in techniques and tools for making the
functioning of business activities effective. The presence of sustainable information technology
is must is very important for different organisations that completely rely on the systems for
bringing accuracy in systems. There are different departments in the organisation and they have

to work collaboratively in an effective manner for gaining potential results (Gelinas, Sutton Jr
and Federowicz, 2019). These departments are provided effective information technology
advancement in order to increase the efficiency of working. Some of the technological
advancement within departments is listed below -
Human resource department - This is a department within the organisation which takes
care of personnel's information and the benefits they are provided within the company.
Information systems have been increased for maximising the efficiency of human resource
management. This is done through very effective recruitment methods, employee engagement,
organisational communication and increase in skills of HR managers. The HR management
areas are associated with strategies of human capital for mos6t appropriate technological
solutions. This develops creation of HR organisation that focuses on interconnection of
individuals with business strategy for achieving rapid adaptation to change needs that are
common to people and business. In context of British Home Plc, it is concluded that by the use
of technological advancement, the HR department is able to easily screen out and then select the
best candidate who fits into the organisation. The information technology is used for developing
advancement in various operations of business to improve the efficient of working (Madon and
Krishna, 2018).
Accounting – The data innovation accounting is used for incorporating conventional
standards that programs and data frameworks for making an area that puts away product's money
related data and information. The digitisation helps in adding streamlines for investigating an
information that helps in enabling one to distinguish and revise aspects of money related
informations. The accounting information system are collecting and processing data. This is the
part of business where accountants gathers data through payrolls, cash sales and receivables. The
management uses report that are derived form accounting information system for analysing the
company's current operations and financial conditions and making future plans. Security of the
data is increased by limiting number of people who can access the system. This enables the
confidentiality of data and security of data. In context of British Plc, it is concluded that using a
computer based accounting system, it provides efficiency in doing business operations.
Sales - There are different roles of IT within the sales department. These include sales
automation, data quality, developing better business decisions and going online. The major
objective of sales management is to ensure that enough products are sold for achieving targets.
