1. Introduction
The primary aim of this undertaking is to research the typical business intelligence design
of an enterprise company and identifying the key selection necessities for senior managers. Then
a powerful choice guide could be supplied by choosing the perfect statistics visualization method
(Azevedo & Santos, 2012). A model might be diagnosed for figuring out the assisting necessities
and the version might be designed. For the advanced commercial enterprise intelligence
application design, Thomsen diagrams will be drawn for designed application.
1.1 Background of Case
The Lawrence Smith Animal Rescue clinic changed into based with the aid of a
Melbourne vet physician in 1973, is a non-income company that provides unique remedy to the
rescued animals in place of private pets or commercial veterinary cases.
The clinic affords treatment to animals that come from enterprises consisting of the
RSPCA, nearby councils, natural world rescue organizations and most of the people who carry
wounded animals found out at the streets, parks, and diverse places.
In the Lawrence Smith Animal Rescue Hospital, Sasha Gordon is working as a GM
(General Manager).
2. Business scenario
The hospital has been running with the help of several investment sources, along with
ordinary payments from local councils for offering veterinary offerings to stray animals stuck
through council rangers. As a not-for-earnings corporation, the health facility also gets numerous
big philanthropic donations from trusts and bequests and other animal welfare investment
companies.
The medical institution also has a normal every year donation force soliciting price range
from most of the people.
The following structure represents that the management statistics of Lawrence Smith

All of the data about the animal and who introduced inside the animal are saved and
introduced to a form and stored in document called record. All the above records is brought
within the get admission to Database via Donor Management System.
2.1 Problem Statement
In 2012, a volunteer vet nurse with the hospital became concerned in a heated discussion
with senior management on the hospital. The nurse have been tangled in a few problematic
choices with reference to the care of a few animals and Sasha Gordon, the overall supervisor.
The retiring nurse after a year of letting move gave out to media counterfeit privileges of
methodically euthanizing animals and mismanagement of budget being delivered.
As stated, all the information are kept in report forms and these information are stored in
the database via Donor Management System (Cao & Yang, 2013). But mining the required from
report form and integrate them in a data sheet are very difficult process for Sasha. This is not
only for Sasha but their team members also. They took too much of time to extract data manually
and storing data in work sheets (DU & XIAO, 2013).
2.2 Scope
Sasha Gordon, on being requested and rushed by way of the brand new board, desires to
put together a system. In this system the working people of the company can easily get
accessibility towards organizational information without any security problems and can get
admission to the facts, examine the corporation’s development and performance and solution all
of worker’s questions effectively and efficaciously (Pranoto, 2015). As a result, the proposed BI
System/interface will benefit in identifying their technical requirements and issues that are
crucial for them, examine the employer’s overall performance and offer answers for brief
decision-making (Firdaus & Amrina, 2015).

3. Business Requirements
About the company, founders, board of directors and financial status of the Lawrence
Smith Hospital is discussed in the part of Business scenario. In this part, we mentioned that the
organization requires a report with consists of details about how animals are treated in various
aspects (AhmedAlFarsi & Kumar Saini, 2015). But, Sasha and her group of workers could not
able to extract and integrate all of the information manually from the existing system to do
presentation to the board. Accordingly, the proposed commercial enterprise intelligence software
system will provide answers to their requirements and it will help them for analyzing the
enterprise’s performance, and make short and efficient decisions (Azevedo & Santos, 2012).
The requirements are analyzed (Intelligence, 2011) and listed below for the Lawrence Smith
Hospital.
1. Key Performance Indicators: For the organization, we need to analyze and calculate
the budget, final outcome of animal species, and how these animals are treated. The
hospital association requires that to examine how animals are being euthanized when
comparing to the animal being treated regularly. So that the organization can easily track
the measures for operations (Yusof, 2013).
2. Income Streams: The organization requires to examine their income streams by carrying
out an efficient strategies assessment. These income streams can be obtained from grants,
donations and they will examine that how these streams compare each other (Zavodny,
2013).
3. Work Patterns of hospital staffs: These information are required to analyze the
relationship among which outcomes paid versus vet staff?
4. Current Donations: What are the funding mix which currently used and where are they
from? Among various councils, which one gives the most business? What type of
philanthropic hospital associations are more generous and names of them? What type of
donors and where are they from? If they come from general public and need to analyze
how it will change over time?

3.1 Overview of Solution
The proposed application system of Business Intelligence is to deal with problems and
requirements given in the business scenario. So that the proposed solution should become as
given below.
Creating Dashboard for the reporting system: Analyzing the key performance indicators of
the Lawrence Smith Animal Rescue Hospital
The proposed system is designed with the key requirements of the hospital to exhibit the
capability of the hospital association for an entire year. This report should has the details about
expenses and revenues and the report is not only for year but for month view also (Mansmann &
Scholl, 2007). Through using the proposed application of business Intelligence system, the total
performance throughout the year can be investigated as either monthly basis or yearly basis.
The proposed system mainly helps the hospital for realizing and degree the allotted
budget, the expenditures, the income stream generated and for that reason, the general
expenditure is considered. Moreover, the health center can maintain song of the revenue
generated via extraordinary earnings streams as a result figuring out how presents, donations
examine with every other.
The overall performance of every employee of the health facility in terms of the volunteer
and vet frame of workers also can be recognized. The application can help to get useful resources
for this institution and helps to investigate any effects on donations and income while display is
enabled.
The system will provide useful resource to the medical institution to examine effects on
donations and income when the display is on and while it isn't always, thus, also giving the
overall donation amounts and overall animals from a selected enterprise.
The hospital can have the ability to understand that granting our bodies and fund donors
are very supportive in all cases and donating high amount along with their occurrence and whilst
making of donations and grants. Lastly, the hospital will be capable of hold song of numerous
charges (and the related amounts) that they're deserving.

3.2 Dashboard: Prototype of Business Intelligence Application
In designing process of application prototype, ‘Dashboard’ is used for generating
solutions for problems and key requirements of the organization (Tarhani & Ameli, 2016).
Generally, a Dashboard is defined as a tool which is used for managing and visualizing
the data. This tool helps to keep track the information, display them and to analyze the overall
performance of the Hospital. It displays the present status of the organization and we van view
the data on daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly basis. And also the dashboard consists of all
the key performance indicators that related to business (Täuscher, 2017).

The bar chart on the top of the dashboard describes that the financial status and
revenue from the year of July 2017 to April 2018 on the basis of monthly view.
Through the year, the profit earned as $55000. It is calculated from the revenue
amount $90000 and expenses $35000. So that the revenue achieved is 80% and the
budget used is 75%. This is the financial status of the present year.
In the second bar chart, the co-relations of local councils, general public and wildlife
rescue for animal intake associations are analyzed for April 2018. In May month, the
general public has provided more funding amount rather than others.
The bottom line chart displays the comparison of treated animals. Then how the
animals are treated was analyzed. Based on the result, there are 1450 animal are
treated. It is calculated with the Euthanasia. It is clearly shown in dashboard. This
comparison is done based on the industry benchmarks.
The bottom most bar chart displays the workers comparison. The working people of
Lawrence Smith Hospital is analyzed. They are compared as paid vs vet workers.
There are 1099 paid employees are working in the hospital and people are volunteers.
Thus total turnover gained from the employees throughout the year is calculated as
$43,230,
3.3 Multi-dimensional Model or Conceptual Model
The multidimensional model or conceptual model is applied for identifying as well as
investigating the scale concerned and the members who associated with one dimensions ("II.
CONCEPTUAL MODEL", 2013). The multidimensional model can be represented through
‘Thomsen Diagrams’ (Chen & Zhao, 2014). These diagrams are giving the conceptual version of
the model in a graphical manner ("Informatics and Appliance", 2013).

4. Conclusion
In this report, we have discussed about how the business Intelligence application system
is designed for the given case. To achieve this aim, we have analyzed what is the main problem
of the given case and what are the key requirements for the system are deeply discussed. This
designed system helps to retrieve all the information from the past and present whenever
required. This design converts the complex problem into simple understanding data. So it helps
in quick decision making of hospital associates. These are done with the application prototype
design by Dashboard and analyzing conceptual model through Thomsen diagrams.
