INTRODUCTION
An Information Technology System is a system which is designed for the purpose of
collection, processing, storing and distribution of the information (Aasheim, Li and Williams,
2019). It is quite helpful for the organizations so that they are able to manage their information in
a proper manner. They need to use it effectively and efficiently so that they are able to properly
manage the functioning without any problems and issues and thus can raise the productivity
level. For this report, Tesco has been chosen which is a British general merchandise and
groceries dealer located in different parts of the world. In this report, a detailed analysis will be
made on the demonstration of understanding of role of IT systems, analysis of flexible and
reliable IT systems, and evaluation of IT systems. Additionally, recommendations of practical IT
systems solutions to given organizational scenarios will also be discussed as a part of this
assignment.

Impact of IT systems
The IT systems create an impact on the organization (Abbasi, Sarker and Chiang, 2016).
This is so because they can alter the way it functions. The impact created by them is explained as
follows-
 Identification of problems- The IT systems are very helpful for identifying the various
types of problems which can incur within an organization. This helps the organizations to
make sure that they are able to solve these problems.
 Solving the problems- The IT systems are very helpful for identification of ways
through which the problems can be solved easily. This helps the organizations in making
sure that they are able to solve the problems.
 Efficiency- IT systems bring the much-required efficiency within the systems of the
organization. This helps in making sure that the organization is able to generate more
profits.
 Effectiveness- IT systems help in increasing the level of effectiveness within the
organization. Thus this can be very helpful in making sure that the organizations can
complete their work without any problems.
 Productivity- IT systems can also be very helpful in increasing the level of productivity
within the organization. In this way the organization can make sure that it is able to
achieve its goals and objectives.
 Proper functioning- IT systems help the organizations to make sure that they are able to
function properly by maintaining the proper flow of work. They can do so by keeping a
proper track record of the work and thus make sure that the organization is able to
function properly and does not faces issues in the future time period. They ensure proper

functioning in Production, HR, Finance, Marketing and other functional departments in a
particular organization. The performance of each and every employee can be effectively
monitored using these systems.
Analysis of use of IT systems in different functions of an organization
The IT systems can be used in the different functions within an organization. These are
explained as follows-
 Production- IT systems can be used effectively in the production function in the
organization (Arnott and Pervan, 2016). They can be used so as to maintain a track record
of production. Thus if the firm is encountering problems and issues in its production then
this has to be effectively addressed using the IT systems.
 Finance- IT systems can be used for the finance function in the organization. They can
be used in the right manner so that financial issues and problems in the company can be
solved. Therefore they facilitate monitoring and control of funds. Thereby, efficiency and
effectiveness can be brought in the finance department in the organization.
 HR- IT systems can be used so that the organization is able to bring the required
efficiency and effectiveness in the HR department. They can facilitate maintenance of
proper track record of each and every employee and also the details of the workers can be
maintained. Thus this can lead towards effective dealing with the issues of the workers.
 Marketing- IT systems can be used in marketing so that the organization is able to make
sure that it has the required efficiency and effectiveness in its marketing activities.
Therefore this will make sure that the marketing activities in the company are carried out
without encountering any problems as well as issues in the future time period.
 Sales- IT systems can be used in Sales department to maintain a track record of the sales
in the organization (Biswas and Muthukkumarasamy, 2016). Thus this can be used in
order to make sure that a proper track of sales is maintained in the company. Therefore
this will allow the organization to ensure the right efficiency as well as effectiveness in
its level of operations in the future time period. This will make sure that the organization
is able to increase its revenues and also maximize its profits in the future time period to
obtain a strategic edge in the market.
Therefore, in all the above functions IT systems play a crucial role in ensuring
management. Thus, it can be said that they are quite crucial in the context of the
organization. Therefore, it has to integrate them in different functions to ensure that the
work is done.
