Compliance Requirements of the Company
In the assessment 1 three compliance requirements had been identified. The first
requirement is ensuring that the safety of quality of food and beverages are critical and central to
the operations of the company as per the Food Production (Safety) Act 2000 and the Food Act
2006. For any breach in the safety or quality of the foods and beverages, the company would be
liable under the Australian Consumer Law. The company is further liable to be complying with
the measurement standards mentioned in the Trade measurement section of the National
Measurement Institute for compliance information. Finally the company is required to follow the
Food Standard Codes by being aware of the specific codes for packaging and labelling.
Actual or Possible Breaches
There had been a very few reports found in which the company’s breach with the food
safety compliances had been mentioned. However in a report published by Ministry of
Agriculture and Forestry in 2011 it was revealed that Coca-Cola Amatil had failed to mention
about a problem they had with their water range pumped to the NZFSA. Due to breach in safety
procedures 11 people got sick consuming the beverage.
Although there are very few breaches found but there are always chances of potential
breaches to the safety and quality of the products. Few potential breaches identified apart from
the food safety were the breach of compliance with the packaging codes and labelling and breach
with the standards and rules of measurement.
