INTRODUCTION
Business management is defined as an activity in which it include the organisation,
supervision and coordination of any business resources and operation to achieve their specific
goal. It involve some essential skills needed and the daily responsibility of a business manager
which make them to achieve the organisation's objectives. It also help the manager to ensure that
their resources and the workers coordinate effectively to accomplish the business's goal. Study of
the business management is helpful for an individual to handle all those activities which are
related to the business. In this report, it will include the concept of business management, the
challenges during the study of business management, importance of an effective and professional
skills development, SWOT analysis of personal skills and the effective team working skills (Al-
Tit, Omri and Hadj, 2020).
Challenges of studying the business management and thriving in the professional practice
Study of the business management is mainly concerned with those ways, which an
organisation operates and functions. it involve marketing, financial and administrative aspects of
business. during the study of business management students have to face various challenges.
 Adjusting to a new surrounding- For the study of business management, mostly student
have to go or move at the different environment and different place to attending their
business school. Along with moving to a new city or town means that an individual must
adopt that new environment with their new culture and the new citizens. They may require
some time so that they can adjust into that place. That's why it is recommended to the
students that they should take a campus tour so that the learning become easier and the
students become comfortable with the new surroundings ( Brink and Esselmann, 2020).

 Connecting with new peoples- The students have to deal with new peoples during
entering into a new environment. They have to find new a friendships zone and also
maintain their old friends. Often it may become very hectic. They also become worry

about to keeping a right or good company, because it can impact their life in a major way.
They should chose the reliable college friends, it can be tricky to find them.
 Learn to work in a team- For the learning of business management, the students have to
work with a group or in a team in order to project work. It may be difficult for those
students, who don't like work with other and want to work alone. Hence, for successfully
completion of a project they haver to learn how to work with a team. Team work will make
them very efficient and develop their performance (Pitsoane and Lethole. 2020).
 Expense- In comparison to other courses, the business management's study is very more
expensive. Due to this expense, student have to face many financial crises. Often, for their
study they have to take a loan and sometimes, they acquire this by their scholarship
money. Apart their study's expenses, they also have many other expenses such as food,
rent and money for their other entertainment. To meet these financial needs some students
work as a part time job.
Importance of effective academic skills and the professional development skill
Academic skills is a collection of the study habits, time management tools and the learning
strategies that help the students in an efficient way. Some important skills are communication
skill, professionalism, decision making skill, multitasking, adaptability, time management and
problem solving skills which are very beneficial for an individuals. There are some importance of
academic skill, which are given below;
 The academic skills helps the student to increase their speaking skills and also increase
confidence for the group collaboration.
 It encourage an individual to develop their self confidence and a higher self esteem.
 It make enable the individuals to understand circumstances and tricks to tackle the issues.
 By this, a student become flexible and readiness for various types of jobs within the
adoptable surroundings.
 Individuals become more responsible for their work and they don't shift their blames on
each others.
 The academic skills development also beneficial to recognise the cultural awareness within
the society.

 It also develop a sense of self awareness in an individuals and participation for the other
peoples.
 It prepare the students for upcoming new challenges and some difficult situations as well
as new opportunities in their life.
Importance of effective professional development skills
The professional skills development change and improve the learning outcomes of an
individual. This skill open the door of new opportunities for the employees. There are some
importance of the effective professional skills development which are given below:
 Re- energize staff- Development of this skill is helpful for the employees to break up the
monotony of their everyday work and also re energize company's staff for the creativity. It
also helps them to gain new skills and the other perspective, which may be very useful for
the employees as well as the organisation (Zhang,, Zhengand Xi,2020).
 Increase the retention- when the employees get some opportunities for their professional
development within the organisation, then it helps to the business in increase employees
retention. It make feel the workers that the company want to keep them and also want to
work for more long term time period.
 Improved efficiency- professional skills development provide an opportunity to the
workers for their improvement and growth. It share their experience and minimize the
knowledge gap of employees. This skill also help them to build employee's credibility by
continue gaining many new skills and the certificates. It make the employees capable to
generate some new ideas so that it can lead to the greater efficiency for the business.
SWOT analysis of the personal development
A personal SWOT analysis is very helpful in promoting the strength of an individual by
minimizing their weakness. This analysis exploit the opportunities of a person by having the
contingency plans to reduce their threats (Schivinskiand McNulty, 2021).

 Adaptability is my strength, because I
can easily adopt new things and
environment. I am a flexible person and
can change my self to match the
surrounds.
 I have a good communication skill
because I can easily communicate with
anyone and feel very comfortable to
make understand other peoples.
 The problem solving skill is my
weakness, because I have no experience
to deal with the major problems. I am
not so able to generate new ideas and
thought to resolve any critical issue.
 I am a bit weak in the time management
as it is very difficult for me to manage
time according the particular and
specific activities.
Opportunities Threat
 Decision making can become an
opportunity for me, because it will make
me able to take the right decision within
the organisation. It will also helps me to
generate new thoughts and ideas.
 Information technology skills also an
opportunity for me, as it will develop
my technical skill which is very
essential in my future career and
professional life.
 Professionalism is very difficult for me,
because this behaviour require formal
activities. I do not have much
experience of this field and knowledge
due to which it can create a big threat
for me.
 The multitasking skill also a big hurdle
for me, as I am not able to to many
things at a time. I can do singly work on
a given time and can not handle
multitasking work.

From this report it is find out that, it is very essential for the students to study business
management. During this study, they face many challenges such as different environment, new
peoples and expenses. But this study is very effective and important for students, because it boost
their confidence and make them a responsible person. Professional development also important for
an individual or workers at the work place. This skill motivate the employees for work creativity
and and make able them to increase their efficiency. By gaining the professional skill development
an individual work hard which increase their productivity at the workplace. A personal SWOT
analysis is very essential to identifies an individual's strength and weakness. It make able them to

use opportunities by minimizing threats. There are some skills which are beneficial for learning
and develop new skills.
