This report is aimed at discussing the research proposal on the relationship between the
migration in the top 5 cities of Australia and the price of the residential buildings in the relative
cities. In other words, a research will be conducted to evaluate the impact of population on the
housing industry of Australia. As a student of Human Research Management, the research
project will help me to understand the current situation of migration in the top 5 cities in
Australia and how the increasing migration is affecting the housing industry. It is a known fact
that Australia faces a tough challenge of declining supply of houses in almost all the major cities
and rising housing prices (Paris, 2017). Thus, this research proposal will explore the factors of
rising housing prices in the top 5 cities of Australia, with a special focus on the factor of
increasing migration.
Research aim and objectives
The aim of this research proposal is to explore and investigate the relationship between
the migration in top 5 cities of Australia and the price of residential buildings in the relative
cities. The study will also evaluate the impact or influence of changing price index on the
migrated population in Australia.
The research objectives are:
 To explore the factors of rising housing prices in Australian cities
 To examine the rising incidence of migration in the top 5 cities of Australia
 To evaluate the relationship between the increasing overseas migration and the price of
residential buildings in the relative cities
 To compare the reasons behind the rising housing prices in each city and their influences

Research questions
The research questions that will be answered in the research study are:
1. Is there any significant relationship between the overseas migration in the top 5 cities of
Australia and price of residential buildings in the relative cities?
2. Comparison of the influence of each city with the reason behind it.
3. Can we say that Changing price index influence migration population?
Research variables
Housing price, price index, top 5 cities of Australia are the research variables.
Search items
The search items or the key terms include Migration ratio, housing price, price index,
number of people lives in the city, trend of living, and population distribution etc. These
variables and terms will be used to search for the journal articles via Google Scholar and other
journal databases like sage.
