1. Introduction
The chronicle gazette one of the leading newspaper of the United States and Susan Feinman
is the publisher of this newspaper. The chronicle merely has 225,000 customers in the United
States. This report includes a current condition of the newspaper including data and status of
newspaper leaders. There is a brief discussion about the reason for declining in the revenue of
the industry and newspaper companies. This report includes the external and internal assessment
of the newspaper industry and company. Further, there is a discussion about the strategies with
the three examples. The last discussion is on the short and long term, which the company must
adopt.
2. Current newspaper publishing industry today
Newspapers are a precarious portion of the United States news landscape but emerging
changes in the newspaper industry affected the newspaper industry and Americans read daily
news on the internet. The major problem is created for the companies who do not have any
online publications as they forced to depend on the print products. As many advertisers shifted to
the digital platforms, which results in the decline in the revenue. The smartphone is the major
reason for the declining revenues in the newspaper industry. Digital content producers have a
different kind of readers and publicizing revenues from newspaper publications. The newspaper
industry of United Stated 2000 companies with total annual revenue of 30 billion (State of news
media, 2019). The main sources of revenue of newspaper companies are advertising and market
stand sales. The major source of revenue for the newspaper industry is advertising (Arnago,
2009).

2.1 Statistics on falling circulation and revenue
The estimated flow of daily newspaper in the America 2018 was 28.6 million for the other
days and 8% to 9% on Sundays (Constance, 2011). Weekly circulation of newspaper in the
United States reduced by the one percent in 2018 compared to last few years. (Jahangir, 2016).
The declining data of circulation and revenue of chronicle gazette as advertising revenue is
decreased by 28% and subscription rate of this newspaper company is reduced by 35% (Pringle,
2011). The largest newspaper circulation companies also face a decline in revenue in the past
over years including advertising, printers and other personnel. There was only $50 billion in
revenue in 2012 and only employed 400,000 people, which also reduced in recent years (Arnago,
2009). The top circulation newspaper like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Daily
Print Six Newspaper, and Chicago Tribune clearly explains the drop of circulation and revenue.

2.2 Position of newspaper front-runners
The reason for declining in the newspaper industry is the high accessibility of the internet
by the high-base consumers and easy availability of news on the internet. The popularity of
news sites is increasing day-by-day is the reason for the declining revenue of print media.

1. The New York Times: New York Times is globally newspaper is global media
Newspaper Company devoted to providing high-quality news and information. According
to the current research, there is a fall down of circulation by 7 percent and there is a 10.5
% increase in the newspaper web audiences in the last few years (Anthony, 2011).
According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, there is a 20.6 declined noticed in The
New York Times post as compared to the Chicago Sun-Times (Constance, 2011). The
newspaper media controller of the New York Times said in the conference” There is an
overall 5.5 fall in the circulation which is little worse than expected”. There is a slight
decline in the NYT than the newspaper industry average because weekly circulation falls
down to 3.6 percent (George., 2012).
2. The wall street Journal: Wall Street Journal is America’s major newspaper with the 2.2
million subscribers (Anthony, 2011) . Journal enlarged its core content, which includes
personal health, the fitness of people, real estate, arts and culture, and effective lifestyle.
The top 25 newspapers of the global world are facing a downfall in the circulation except
for the Wall Street Journal, in which a circulation increased by the 0.6 percent gain
(Glenn, 2017).
3. USA Today: USA today has adapted the change very easily, which increases the
readers by seven million. According to the Audit Bureau of circulations, USA Today is a
leader in the news mobile applications as it more than 21 million downloads (Arnago,
2009). USA Today is also gets affected as its circulation is dropped by the 7.5 percent and
reduction in the weekly circulation (Barthel , 2017). USA Today is still the best
newspaper in the print media industry (Holm, 2013).

3. Reason for declining circulations and revenues
The major reason for declining in the circulation and revenue is news content is free
availability of news content online that can get easily from the internet. Another reason for
downfall in the circulation and revenue as there are millions of phone applications, website, and
blogs, articles is dedicated to providing information to the users of the internet. At present,
people are more comfortable on freely online information compared to the paid copy of the
information. The Chronicle Gazette is facing a problem of subscription losses as the newspaper
industry reduced by the 28 percent (Holm, 2013). Print media regulators facing a problem of
losing subscribers because of the advancement in technology and communication. Every 8 and
10 people in America are reading news online rather than physical newspapers and 39% of
Youth of United America is reading online content on the mobile devices because rates are
cheaper or free in nature (Jahangir, 2016).
3.1 External assessment
Susan Feinman recognizes that there is a reduction in the subscriptions and revenues in
the newspaper industry even the top companies is facing a problem of subscription losses such as
The Times of India, The USA Today and The wall street Journal.
3.1.1 Economic forces
An economic factor includes demand and supply on both long and short term. The
economic recession in the newspaper industry forced the print-media companies to shut down
the business and because of the enormous decline in the revenues. The economic downturn in the
newspaper industry results in the drop of the 15.3% advertising revenues (Holm, 2013). The
