Business reports are either informative or persuasive. They are usually written to enable the
target audience to wither make some decisions or analyses certain situations in order provide
information to a committee or individual ("What is a business report? - OWLL - Massey
University", 2019). The business reports analysed for this assignment was reporting the
marketing strategy of Uber and providing recommendation as to it would be lucrative for the
local market in a new region. Possessing a specific objective gave the report a distinct
purpose making the message follow a pre-defined course or path. An effective business report
is one which has an executive summary stating the main points and recommendation of the
report, which makes it easier for the audience to give a quick glance to it to understand
what’s there in the report and not have to go through the lengthy document. The report comes
with various headings and sub headings, making it easier for the reader to go through. The
Uber business report included all these major points – executive summary and various sub
headings, and were made specific to the target audience. The words and language used were
simple and concise, which made it easier for its readers to follow the contents and provide

The reason I chose a business report as the mode of business communication for the
assignment was because it is an effective and crucial means to communicate in a professional
world. It is required to make recommendation, suggestion or merely to educate its audience
about a particular topic. The business report included the marketing mix of the company,
which is crucial for making any marketing decision in a new market. Studying the company’s
marketing programme in the international market, one can understand the strategy they
follow and the effectiveness of the same. The recommendation made were not done randomly
but were articulately based on theories and scholarly research studies. The report had
numerous academic references to make a strong argument, which made it credible and valid.
