CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Research proposal
(I) Research project description
In globalised world, equality and diversity play a significant role in business
organisation because it includes staff members who belongs to the different culture, age,
race, background and many more. In this, company is responsible for promoting equality at
working area so that each and every employees do well and attain their targets in stipulated
time frame. In context of this, gender equality in the working area is also consider as a most
significant issues facing by employees right now (Schuh and et. al., 2014). But on the other
side, currently business organisations are focus on promoting as well as improving gender
diversity wherein each and every workers whether they are male or female should be treated
equally. This will contributes in developing positive and healthy working environment
within the business organisation. As manager and leader also responsible for managing
equality in team and working area so that employees can easily create positive relation with
each other. Current research is based on Morrisons, is one of the famous and biggest organisation
that run their business in over the world with the aim of establishment its set targets.
(II) Research aim and objective
Aim:
“To identify the role of gender equality in leadership and management of an organisation”.
A study on Morrisons.
Objectives
To determine the role of gender equality for an organisation.
To analysis the influence of gender equality in management and leadership of
Morrisons.
To determine several ways that can be used by Morrisons for incorporating gender
equality practices at workplace.

(III) Reasons for selecting this project
The main purpose of undertaking this research is to identify the role of gender
equality in management and leadership as it support business organisation in promoting
equality at workplace that directly contributes in improving overall performance (Van den
Brink and Benschop, 2014). Along with this, it also help investigator to improve their skills
and knowledge towards the selected research topic. It also provide path to investigator in
enhancing their career growth by enhancing their professional skills on the basis of equality
and diversity.
