Aim: To identify different behaviours that support equality and diversity in pertaining to
retaining employees at workplace – A study on Sainsbury.
Objectives:
To understand the concept of equality and diversity.
To determine the significance of choosing the behaviour that support equality and
diversity at workplace.
To assess the practice which are required to manage the equality and diversity at
workplace through adapting different behaviours. To provide recommendation to the Sainsbury regarding adapting the best behaviour that
support the equality and diversity at workplace.

Rationale
Maintaining good sort of the human resource in the organization is one of the most difficult
task in the long run, it is one of the biggest issue which is also faced by the Sainsbury in the
current scenario as well. For the same scholar has selected the topic, as with the help of the
research researcher will like to solve the different issue which is being faced by the scholar in
the long sun. The reasons behind conducting this research now is that lot of companies are
changing their behaviours to retaining the employees interest at work premises. Thus, it
is interesting to know the new practices or challenges which is adapted by the member to

LITERATURE REVIEW
To understand the concept of equality and diversity.
Kirton and Greene, (2015) said that, equality and diversity is an effective concept because it
is useful in giving equal opportunity to each individual within the organization. It helps in
reducing discrimination within the organization on the basis of age, gender, disability,
pregnancy, etc. Abankina and et.al., (2016) argued that, it is very useful in creating fair
treatment of the individuals in order to increase the performance and productivity of employees.
It is useful in eliminating any sort of unlawful behaviour and discrimination against workers.
To determine the significance of choosing the behaviour that support equality and diversity at
workplace.
Thompson, (2016) said that, giving respect and fair treatment to the individuals which helps
in supporting the equality and diversity within the organization. Encouraging the lower
employees within the organization helps in creating support equality and diversity at workplace.
The management of the organization being inclusive is another prominent approach which helps
in supporting equality and diversity within workplace. Bowl, (2018) argued that, knowing the
needs of the employees and motivating them to involve within the decision making process is
considered to be highly significant in supporting equality and diversity within workplace.
Respecting each individual whether they belong to different culture, nation and difference in
belief and language. Preventing unconscious biasness, enforcement of the equality policies and
being proactive is useful for improving equality and diversity within the organization.
To determine the practices in regards of behavior to maintain Equality and Diversity
Klein (2016)used to highlights that there are many different type of practices which can be
used by the organization to maintain a good sort of Equality and diversity in the organization,
the first practice which is highlighted by the author is that leader in the organization has to make
sure that they used to adopt the variety of the different type of the behaviour in the organization
after going through the different performance of the employee in the organization. Author also
highlights that another practice which can be performed in the organization will be adopting the
supporting behaviour in the organization, as these behaviour will help the leader in the
organization to get the good hand of the support from the employee whenever organization or
the leader require in the organization. This will eventually help the organization in maintaining
the Equality and diversity in better way in the organization. Taylor (2017) in the published paper

also highlights that building good sort of the training in the organization is one of the best way
through which organization can maintain good sort of the equality and diversity in the
organization as it used to help the company in maintaining good employee relationship in the
organization as well.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methods: It is one of the effective procedure which helps in collecting and
analysing various data sets because it helps in attaining aims and solving research problems. It is
classified into quantitative and qualitative research methods. Qualitative method gains in-depth
analysis of the various theoretical perspective of the research topic (Jensen, 2017). Quantitative
methodology mainly emphasize on key measurements for better numerical analysis with the use
of computational techniques. The researcher of the study identify different behaviours that
support equality and diversity in pertaining to retaining employees at workplace.
Research philosophy: It is a thought of the researcher with helps in gaining reliable
knowledge associated with the data sets to obtain the objectives of the research. It is classified
into positivism and interpretivism philosophy. Interpretivism method is very significant as it
helps in evaluating the better understanding between social and human factors to attain wider
perspective on key elements of the study. Positivism approach mainly abide with the scientific
evidence that helps in revealing true nature of the research topic. The researcher of the study will
select interpretivism philosophy to effectively understand the concept of equality and diversity.
Research design: It tends to comply with the complete strategy to evaluate key components
of the study. It is classified into exploratory and descriptive research design. Descriptive
research aims at systematically describing the phenomenon or specific situation to investigate on
the key variables of the study in depth (Johnson, and Christensen, 2019). Exploratory research
design serves as an initial tool because it has no historical data sets and also provides
hypothetical approach to research problem. The researcher of the study will select descriptive
research design to determine the significance of choosing the behaviour that support equality
and diversity at workplace.
Research approach: It is one of the way which provides systematic procedure in detail to
collect, analyze and interpret data sets. It is classified into inductive and deductive approach.
Inductive approach is useful as provides the researcher with appropriate reasoning and reach

conclusive theory and results to resolve research problem. Deductive approach explores the
phenomenon and also develops hypothesis to conduct study. The researcher of the study will
select inductive approach to assess the practice which are required to manage the equality and
diversity at workplace through adapting different behaviors.
Data collection: It collects gathers, monitors and measure data on key variables of the
subject matter. It helps in evaluating answers to various research questions (Kumar, 2019). It is
classified into primary and secondary source of data collection. Primary data is first hand
information with the use of observation, questionnaire, survey, experiments, etc. However,
secondary data is the data which has been collected by the other scholars earlier and is collected
with the help of scholarly articles, manuals, newspaper, blogs, journals, manuscripts, etc. The
researcher of the study will select primary and secondary source of data collection in order to
provide recommendation to the Sainsbury regarding adapting the best behaviour that support the
equality and diversity at workplace.
Sampling: This is a significant part of methodology to select the right size of the sample from
the large number of population. It is classified into probabilistic and non- probabilistic sampling
methods. The researcher of the study has significantly chosen random sampling method where
every person from the large gathering will have equal chance to get selected within the sample
size. The researcher of the study will select random probabilistic sampling method where 20
managers of Sainsbury has been selected to examine the different behaviours that support the
concept of equality and diversity in respect of retaining employees.
Data Analysis: This method is useful because it helps in analysing, interpreting data sets to
gain valid and accurate results (Litosseliti, 2018). It is classified into SPSS analysis and thematic
analysis. Thematic analysis evaluates the key variables of the themes and explore every part of
the study in- depth. The researcher of the study will select thematic analysis identify different
behaviours that support equality and diversity in pertaining to retaining employees at workplace.
Cost and access: The researcher of the study needs $2000 to carry out the study with
utmost degree of accuracy. The researcher has clearly access to all the resources through
EBSCO Online Library.
Ethical consideration: The researcher comply with the general data protect act and keep all
the information confidential (Quinlan and et.al., 2019). The research has been carried out with

changes in regards of maintaining equality and diversity in the market. As collected data shows
that out of the pool of 50 respondent 43 respondents has chosen yes their opinion at the same
time remaining 7 respondents in the organization has selected the option of No. So it is good
sign for the organization. As it will help the company in maintaining good efficiency of activity
related to Equality and diversity.

After going through the data which is collected by conducting the survey, it can be easily
interoperate that there are more than one benefit which is being brought by the choosing correct
behaviour in context of equality and diversity at the workplace. As collected data shows that 42
respondent has chosen the option of All of the above which means that they have chosen all the
option Improves employee motivation, Builds good working environment and Reduce employee
Conflict. This is also explained in the secondary data collection by the different author.
Remaining 3, 2 and 5 respondent has selected the option of Improve employee motivation,
builds good working environment and reduce employee conflict in the organization. So it can be
said that there are more than one benefit of selecting the correct behavior in the organization.

After going through the different opinion which has been passed on by the different respondent
in the organization it has been identified that Adopting supporting behavior is one of the best
practices through which organization can manage the equality and the diversity in better way in
the organization. Collected data used to show that out of the pool of 50 respondent 35
respondents has gone with the option of Adopting supporting behavior in the organization, 7
respondents has chosen the option of Adopting different behavior as employee performance, 3
respondent was having the opinion of proper training to all the employee in the organization and
remaining 5 respondent has chosen the option of all the above in the organization. This option
was also highlighted by the different author in LR section of research.
CONCLUSION AND RECOOMENDATION
After going through the above report it has been identified that behavior in the
organization used to impact the performance of the employee as it used to impact motivation of
the employee in the organization. So it has been recommended to the Sainsbury that they used to
maintain the good amount of the equality and the diversity in the organization. This will
eventually help the company in retaining the employee for longer period of the time in the

organization and also it will help the company in maintaining good sort of working environment
in the organization as well.
After that report has also concluded that good behavior in maintaining the Equality and
diversity in the organization used to help the company in seeing good amount of the benefit, in
the organization. So for the same reason it has been recommended to the Sainsbury that they
used to invest good amount of the company resources in providing the variety of the training to
different leader in the organization in context of adopting the variety of different type of the
behavior in the organization to maintain a good sort of Equality and diversity in the long run.
At the same time it has been also concluded in the report that Adopting supportive
behavior in the organization is one of the best practice through which organization can reduce
the negative impact of Equality and diversity in the organization. For the same reason
organization has to make sure that they used to guide the different leader in the organization that
all of them uses the different leader in the organization that they used to used supportive
leadership style in the organization, so that good amount of the equality and diversity is maintain
in the organization, this will eventually help the company in reducing the amount of the conflict
in the organization and will help the company in maintaining good working environment in the
organization as well in the long run.
REFLECTION
Conducting the research has helped me in gaining the variety of the knowledge at the same time
it has also helped me in building good skill set of mine in the long. At the same time there were
many complicacies which was also seen by me during the same.
Starting from the start it has been analysis that in the initial stage I was very nervous to
carry out the research, as it was the first time I was conducting any of the research individual in
the organization, so I was very nervous to do the same but as research progress I was
comfortable to carry out the different activity very easily in the organization. Knowledge which
was gather by me was regarding conducting the research. This knowledge will help me in
conducting any other research for any other client or same client in the future.
Looking at the skill set there were two different type of the skill set which was developed
by me due to conducting research in the organization. The first skill which was developed by me
was the communication skill of mine, as these project has asked me to communicate with variety

of the different parties in project, these has eventually helped me in building good
communication skill of mine in the market. Other skill set which was developed by me in the
research was the sourcing skill of mine in the market, as this project has asked me to source the
variety of the information from different sources and on the basis of the same research has been
conducted in the organization.
There were many different limitations which has been identified by the me, the biggest
issue which has been identified by me was that the time allotted to complete the project was to
less but with the help of the team member I was able to finish the work on time in the
organization. At the same time another limitation which was identified by me was that I was
finding it difficult to find the source through which different information can be carried out in
the organization.
