REFLFECTION
1. Personal contribution to topic selection, problem definition, writing topic approval submission
and team charter
I have contributed regarding selection of topic to be analyzed at Seaport Melbourne. It
can be assessed that climate change issue is rising up to a major extent. In order to minimize the
effect of the same, environment friendly practices are to be exercised by firm so that business
may reduce greenhouse gases emissions for not harming environment and further maintain
economic sustainability (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault, 2015). In relation to this, sustainable
development through green port marketing at Seaport Melbourne has been chosen. Problem is
defined which classifies that traditional marketing does not suit in present scenario where climate
crisis is seen. The temperature is rising and due to excess heat, glaciers are melting rapidly. Thus,
to conquer this, sustainable development with the help of green port marketing at Seaport
Melbourne is chosen.
Topic approval submission was submitted to concern assessor and I learned formal
writing of submission which I never experienced earlier. It can be analyzed that team charter was
made in which all group members were assigned particular sections of research project so that
members may align their work in the same direction for which project objectives were made
(O'Leary, 2017). Team charter has encouraged me and I have learnt that without assigning proper
work and giving direction, work cannot be accomplished on time. Hence, I have learnt a lot from
this project and personally contributed to achieve project objectives.
2. Personal contribution to literature review report
Literature review is to analyze studies of researchers on topic which is being selected by
scholar for his present research. It becomes crucial part of research project because through this,
researcher comes to know current knowledge of subject, theoretical and methodological
contributions to the subject (Hart, 2018). It works as secondary source for scholar. My group
members looked in relevant literature reviews for topic. After that, I personally contributed in
summarizing the relevant subject articles from which current knowledge may be assessed in a
better manner. Further, I extracted concern articles where project-centric methodological
contributions were presented. On the other hand, I learnt from literature review report that

1
Sustainable Development can be attained through green port marketing at Seaport Melbourne in
effective manner by implementing theoretical background reflected in it.
On the other hand, I also contributed in designing structure to literature review and
writing review in step-by-step manner. Moreover, I learnt from the literature that with the help of
secondary source of data, current research can be completed without any difficulty. Thus, it can
be concluded that present research has been directed in a better way so that research project may
be attained in directed manner (Machi and McEvoy, 2016). The literature review has been
structured and designed by me in effective way which reflects how previous studies can be used
for serving the present purpose of project.
3. Personal contribution to the research methodology
Research methodology has been formed with the help of proper direction of team charter
being made. I have personally contributed in research methodology section for project. Present
topic is sustainable development through green port marketing at Seaport Melbourne so that
seaport may become environmental sustainable with the help of new marketing in effectual way.
The data collection is one of the important aspects in research (Bresler and Stake, 2017). For this
research, secondary source and primary sources are availed. My role in discussing about
selecting appropriate method was effectively carried out and I personally selected method for
research. On the other hand, sampling method was implemented which is representative of
universe population. I also learnt that there are different sampling methods such as simple
random sampling, stratified sampling, clustered sampling and many others. In addition to this,
questionnaire designing was made for present research in order to extract viewpoints of people.
The questionnaire was made by not using any vague words, insensible questions etc.
The data analysis has been completed and results are attained. It shows that green port
marketing is vital for sustainable development at Seaport Melbourne. In similar way, I have
learnt how data needs to be collected, interpreted so as to achieve outcome of research in the best
manner possible. Moreover, analytical skills are enhanced with the help of this project (Sharp,
Peters and Howard, 2017). Further, I learnt that various types of research methods and how it can
be used in particular situation. Thus, I’m able to get proper idea about team work in order to
attain methodological framework in effectual way. Hence, I have earned and personally
contributed in research methodology for attaining outcomes.

4. Reflection on research experience
Research experience was surreal for me. I have gained so much knowledge with regards
to applying theoretical knowledge to practical aspects. I contributed in project completion so as
to attain objectives of research project. Several difficulties and issues were being identified in the
journey as well. First of all, preparing team charter was one of the main issues as none of the
group members was well-equipped with it. This is because only skills were known but we were
lacking on practical aspect. This challenge was overcome by making team charter with the help
of expert. By taking help from him, we made team charter and assigned roles of each and every
member to be performed (Quinlan et.al, 2019). Another challenge being faced by me was that I
did not know various data analysis methods that can be utilized for data analysis section of
research project.
I overcame this issue by going through my books and other secondary sources in order to
ascertain different types of techniques in the best manner possible. On the other hand, I gained
useful insight about my inner strengths and weaknesses quite comfortably (Cuervo‐Cazurra et.al,
2017). I assessed that with the help of research, I managed to improve my data collection skills
by going through various secondary sources. Further, I managed to design and frame
questionnaire for extracting viewpoints of people. Thus, it can be analyzed that all aspects
including synergies were attained and challenges were overcome through better measures.
5. Statement of personally written sections of research project
The group had divided various sections of project to be written by all. In this, I wrote
section of research methodology regarding the research project. The research methodology
section is important section as it highlights where the research will move in particular direction.
Overall schema of research is accomplished with this section. Any wrong aspect encountered
should be resolved at the earliest else results would be inappropriate. I wrote research method
being applied to present project. I encountered that qualitative and quantitative methods prevail
which can be used according to purpose of research. I chose the relevant research method and
started collecting data on it. However, I made the use of secondary sources such as books,
journals, articles from the internet etc. On the other hand, primary source was gathered by
framing questionnaire and offering them to sample population (Kumar, 2019).
On the other hand, data analysis is another vital part of methodology section (Oakley,
2018). I did not know various data analysis methods that can be utilized for data analysis section

so I gathered information from secondary sources and found that SPSS, thematic analysis and
other methods can be used. I selected one of them and data analysis part was completed as well. I
improved my analytical skills, intellectual skills and contributed towards the project as per my
