The main elements that are covered in it are attending conferences, informal learning opportunities, improvement in skills etc. Present report is having two different parts first one is focused with business simulation and the other one is based upon professional development. In the Part A, analysis is made upon PhoneTechCompanywhichissmartphonemanufacturermainlyestablishedinThe Netherlands. It is operating business in different countries including US, UK, Brazil, Canada, Malaysia, China, Japan etc. This part of the report covers various topics such as vision, values, mission, HR, culture of the company. Additionally, review of progress of all the years, performance analysing along with future plans and recommendations are also covered in this section. Second part is related to professional development in which specific events are required to be identified and then theories in context of them and industry practices are required to be applied successfully. It reduces threat of new entrant for Phone Tech company. Threat of substitutes:All the same types of products that are delivering same facilities to the clients are the substitute goods. If a seller is having very high number of them for its products then it will increase the threat of substitute as it will leave negative impact upon business. The substitutes for smart phones are very low as it is not possible for other products to render same services. Performance Analysis has to be done by the organizations so as to make sure that they are able to get the desired results so as to achieve their various types of goals and objectives in the future time period. Its various aspects are as follows- Marketing- Marketing activities are required from the point of view of firm so that they are able to reach their customers(Reed and Jeremiah, 2017). Thus there is a requirement that the firms should be able to conduct marketing activities without any problems. I have noticed while working in Phone Tech that the company is getting behind its various competitors because of insufficient attention which has been paid in the marketing segment. The business plan made by the company for marketing has missed its targets in the recent years as a result of which it has fallen behind the competitors. Thus there is a requirement to make an effective strategy for the purpose of marketing. HR- Human Resources are assets for any organization. Thus it is required from the management of the organization that they can ensure that they are managed effectively and efficiently so as to ensure good productivity from them. While working in Phone Tech I have noticed that the company has not paid due attention to its employees and their needs and requirements which has led to low productivity. The business plan made by the company for HR has missed its targets and due to which it is behind its competitors in this regard and thus needs to make a right strategy for its human resources. Logistics- Logistics refers to various types of ways through which specific tasks can be conducted within an organization(Rizzuto, 2017). I have noticed that in Phone Tech this function has not been paid due attention which has lead to the creation of problems and issues. The company has fallen behind here as its business plan has missed its objectives and thus its competitors are ahead of it and there is a requirement to improve the logistics function. Accounting- Accounting means maintaining and managing the financial information and transactions within a company. In the context of Phone Tech, I have noticed that it is facing accounting issues which has led it towards continuous losses over the last few years. The company’s business plan has not achieved its goals due to ineffective accounting practices which has increased the losses and led the company to fall behind competitors and thus there is a requirement to improve the accounting function. Product Development- Product Development is essential so as to make sure that the right product is developed by the company(Spinler, 2018). I think Phone Tech made some wrong choices related to its products over the years which have led towards creation of problems for it as it is facing losses from the last few years. The company’s business plan has no achieved objectives due to wrong products and thus the company is behind competitors and there is a requirement to make the right products. Phone Tech recently launched a new product in the market. It is a new smartphone with a lot of features. The company kept its price higher compared to the prices charged by the other competitors in the market for their smartphones. As I work in Phone Tech, I noticed that there were several mistakes on our part while launching the product. As a result, the product could not perform as expected in the market because of its high price tag and the low valued added by it for the customers as compared to the price paid by them for it. Thus, this resulted in the product not able to generate the expected revenues and created losses for the company and had to be withdrawn from the market. Change in management- Phone Tech company has been running into losses continuously. This is so because some of its products have not been successful in generating the expected revenues. Also, the marketing strategies which have been chosen by it are not working as expected by the managers. The competitors therefore are acquiring a strategic edge over it in the market. Thus the management of the company had to be changed so that a change can be brought within the company. As I work in Phone Tech, I have closely witnessed this change and thus I am able to identify the reactions change brings along with it. The new management has various challenges lying ahead of it. It has to make sure that it is able to take the right approach and frame effective strategies so that it is able to raise the overall efficiency and effectiveness level in the company(Fominykh and et.al., 2016). By doing so, the overall level of productivity will rise. Review of theories- Control Theory- This theory is used so as to identify the various parameters through which the overall performance can be assessed(Jackson, 2019). Using it deviations and variances can be found and the right action can be taken. The steps in this theory are as follows- Identification of organizational structure- It is required from the organizations that they are able to identify their structure(Jaeger, 2018). In my opinion, these are required to analyze the behavior of different members in various teams of the organization. I think that this is highly important to make sure that the performance is evaluated correctly. It is based on the belief that workers only have physical and economic needs and do not have social needs. Thus it advocates the following principles- Profit maximization- I think that this is quite crucial as the firms are required to aim for maximizing their level of profits so as to get the desired results. Labor specialization- According to me, this is required so as to make sure that the specialized labor is used by the organizations for achieving their goals and objectives. Centralized leadership- I think that this is quite crucial for the purpose of making sure that the leadership is able to take the correct decisions. Streamlined operations- According to me, this is required for making sure that the operations are running effectively and efficiently. Emphasis on productivity- This is required so as to put the required emphasis on the productivity of the organization. Single-person- I think that this is crucial for taking the right decisions as here only a few people take the decision. Priority to the bottom line- According to me, this is helpful in raising the overall productivity. Review of industry practices Phone Tech operates in the electronics industry. Because of it, the company’s operational profit as well as the overall profit has been affected. This has led to bad performance by it in the last few years and also this has led towards losses over the last few years. Thus this is a problem which requires the attention of the managers to make sure that the firm is able to get its profitability back and is also able to achieve its short-term and long-term goals and objectives in the future time period. If the company is able to use this theory in the right manner then surely the problem related with Wrong accounting practices can be resolved. This is so because the organization will be able to identify the right practices to be used. The root cause of the problem will be identified and the rectifying
actions can be taken when the need arises. Therefore, in my opinion this theory can be used in the right manner. Classical Management theory- The managers of Phone Tech are required to make sure that they are able to use the seven principles as advocate by the theory in the right manner. By using them effectively and efficiently, the management can make sure that it is able to solve the problem of Wrong accounting practices(Perboli and et.al., 2018). By doing so, the company will make sure that it is able to raise its overall efficiency and effectiveness. Thus, I think so that this theory can be used in the right manner by the managers of the company by using its seven principles. Therefore, it is required that the company is able to use it to make sure that the issue related with Wrong accounting practices is solved and the level of overall productivity is increased. In this way, a strategic edge can be acquired over the various types of competitors in the future time period. This will lead to the firm doing better than its competitors and thus making sure that it earns higher-level of profits in the future time period. Discussion Therefore, it can be said that the different types of events in the simulation game has helped me a lot as it has made me understand how the business is run practically. By using the various aspects of the game, I have learnt new techniques through which a business can be run effectively and efficiently. Also, in this way I can also make sure that I can apply these techniques practically so as to raise the overall efficiency and effectiveness and to ensure that the business achieve sustainable level of success in the future time period by getting a strategic edge over the competitors. I have also seen that certain problems are also encountered while managing a business. Thus there is a requirement of taking the right approach so that the work can be done. Therefore, by taking correct actions in the context of various types of situations there is much which can be learnt. Thus this acts as a great learning curve and gives a great experience to the budding managers so that they can manage their business well. By learning all this managers can enhance their various types of managerial skills and capabilities for the future time period. Recommendations The recommendations for Phone Tech Company are as follows- Identify problems- Since Phone Tech has been facing heavy losses in the last few years there is an underlying problem which has not been resolved. Thus it is required from the company that it identifies the problems and takes the right action(Pilcher, 2016).
