INTRODUCTION
Legal risk is the result of reputation and financial loss which is accrue from
misunderstanding and lack of awareness. this report is based on Travelodge hotel which is in
UK. So in this report manager and employees of Travelodge hotel focus on these things like data
protection of employees, health and safety, provide hygiene food for them. These legal are
necessary to follow in a hotel.

There are some factors which help Travelodge hotels mangers and employees to avoid
legal risk (Anthony and Garner, 2016 ) These factors are important which should strictly follow
by the managers and those are as following.
Data procreation: In hotel industry it is responsibility of a manager and employee to
protect data of there customers. It is important for the reputation of the hotel and as well as trust
of customers. They provide there all documents on the basis of trust. All kind of data like
personal data, preference data and transaction data. Personal data include all the basic
information of the customer, preference data include the preferences of customers in hotel and
last is transaction data which is collect for the purpose of sale. In digital world, security of data is
more risky. All the banking details like the credit card detail and online payment is also provided
by the customers. GDPR ( The general data protection regulation) is a biggest overhaul of data
protection in hotel industry. Customers mostly choose card payment for a safety basis. Many
things like name, mail id all these things are needed to secure for a record. The general data
protection regulation is the game changer. Through this hotel secure there data for business
purpose ( Burns, 2016). It also helps in control the individual personal data. It is necessary for all
the Travelodge hotel to maintain its reputation. This hotel is has a strong brand image which is
important for it.
Health and safety :It is the basic responsibility of a managers to focus on the health and
safety issue of there customer. It s important for the employees as well as guests. These all things
are important for a effective business and build a strong brand image through the health and

safety. Managers and employee should creak the checklist. Fire safety, cleaning procedure, and
documentation must be included in checklist because it is necessary, a hotel industry should
follow these procedure and those are liked documentation of employees should be completed, a
hotel have a safety community which helps at the time emergency, a proper plan provide for the
customer related to the layout of hotel which helps them in emergency, housekeeping and
cleaning must available which have a proper training of safety technique. Related to lifting,
disposing unit, rubber grubs should be handing cleaning solution. The company should provide
the fresh products to its customer because it is impact on the reputation of the hotel. All these
things are necessary to observe by the mangers for the safety purpose. Quality of services which
is provided by the employees also effect the customers. These things are important to maintain
there strong brand image.
Food hygienes: Good food should be provided for the customers which is safe for eat. It
is the basic responsibility of manger to check the quality of food which is provide to there
customer. High quality food attractant the customer, it also impact upon the reputation of the
Hotel. Food poisoning can affect the customer health Quality should be check with the legal
requirements is necessary. Unhealthy food damage the reputation which also decrees the growth
of that hotel. Legal principles related to hygiene food are equal in every country. It is designed
accounting to the size of the business (Jones, Phillips and Waikar,2017 ). There are some
approaches like HACCP which helps in evaluation and controlling the safety related to food.
Some basis requirement like the cooking time, temperature, store temperature and time and
maintenance of that area should be check by expert. Mostly restaurants choose critical services
like they prepare food and serve to there customer. This process is total wrong. They should heat
food than serve that. Reheat food is also impact on the health of the customers. Many things
which is provided fore by the restaurant for highnesses those are like hand wash facilities,
facilities for changing clothes, drying facility. All these things are important for the customers.
These are the basic needs which is necessary to full fill by the employees and managers.

Risk management : In the hospitality sector risk is the essential part which can affect the
business growth more over it analyse to identify the various source of risk that it can be financial
risk, natural risk, legal risk and cyber security risk which may create a problem in the industry so

so manger and employees of Travelodge hotel should look after this risk factor and should
implement certain procedures to overcome these problem in an effective manner. The employees
of the hotel industry need to focus on the growth of the business so that customer can be attracted
towards this industry with faith and trust. Some natural disasters which are uncontrollable but the
industry can prevent the security for its customer. Employees and mangers should be
professional while interacting with the guests in the hotel. For hospitality sector employees and
mangers need to provide services to its customer in an effective manner. Travelodge hotel need
to maintain these risk in such way that protects the customer detail so that it will be easy make
relations with the customer. Customers are important part of this industry and the hotel industries
main aim is provide best service it its consumer (Wilson and Wilson 2017).
Licensing : The hospitality need to follow the licensing strategies so that it will be help
to maintain the relationship with the customer. Every service sector should be licensed while
operating the work or starting with restaurant to hotels and bars. Due to government rules and
regulation which are changing fast and because through which hospitality sector is need to work
smoothly. According to the law and act it is necessary for the hotel industry to be register and
should follow all norms while doing the registration work. In context to Travelodge the company
should follow all the rules and regulation in an effective way so that work should done without
fear. The mangers and employees need to consider this point while opening and service sector.
In the hotel industry all staff should be provided the all legal authorities so that no other
government act cant be burden for this sector. Every country has different rules and procedures
for the licensing. To operate the work smoothly the hotel owner need to work in a effective way
(Silbiger 2016).
Hotel Proprietors Act 1956 : This law was amend for inns and innkeepers the major Act
which is full of roles and duties and liabilities and rights of the mangers and employees who are
working in the hotel industry. In this law it has been mentioned about the offering and food
which provided to the customer should be hygiene and more over all accommodation facility
should be best infrastructure facility room. The manager and employees who are working in the
hotel should make the guest feel free and safe in that place. All the service and legal rights that
have been provided to the customer in the hotel should fit into the budget. All the rules are made
for the benefit of the hotel industry. The main aim of making this act was to set out the liabilities
of hotel manager for the damages to the property of hotel guests. In context to Travelodge hotel

the manager need follow this because to maintain the goodwill in market and moreover it able
the hotel owner work in legal. The mangers and employees should consider this act while
starting any service sector (Rey-Martí Porcar and Mas-Tur 2015).
At the end, as the above statement about all the legislative risk which the manger and
employees need to consider while opening the hotel industry. The service industry need to take
the important part for the growth of the business.
CONCLUSION
From the above statement and detailed report it can concluded that there advantages of
the legislative risk and also disadvantage in context to the hotel industry. The Hotel properties
Act 1956 the company need to follow the guidelines but due which some time the rules become
rough and tough which will not be able to follow by the employees and mangers. Some of areas
that need to be focused by the company is data protection and heath and safety, risk management
these are some of the legal points which need to be included by the service industry that is
Travelodge hotel, manager and employees need to focus. The mangers and employees of the
hotel have to look after this area in an effective manner and some time due to some of the
economical and social factor it is not easy to follow (Quinlan, Babin Carr and Griffin 2019).
