Rio Tinto is one of the largest Anglo-Australian companies in the mining and metal
industry in the world. The company has been active in the major parts of the world with the dual
listing. The company is known to have dual headquarters, one at the Australian city of
Melbourne and the other at London. The London headquarters house the global headquarters and
majorly the operations of the Rio Tinto Plc. The Melbourne headquarters majorly look in to the
various issues that are highlighted on the part of the Rio Tinto Limited (Riotinto.com, 2018). The
company is known to be traded on the London Stock Exchange active within the territorial as
well as political boundaries of the United Kingdom. The other area wherein the company is
traded refers to the Australian Securities Exchange that is active within the territorial as well as
political boundaries of Australia. The company is known to have earned a revenue of around
40,522 billion US dollars in the year 2018 and boasts of a workforce of 47,000 employees all
over the world (Riotinto.com, 2018).
BHP Billiton is another multinational Anglo-Australian company of the world that deals
in petroleum, metals and mining. The company is also observed to be operational in various parts
of the world and is also dual-listed like Rio Tinto. The company like Rio Tinto does have joint
headquarters at different parts of the world like Melbourne and London. The London
headquarters are majorly responsible for the activities undertaken by BHP Billiton Plc. On the
other hand, the Melbourne headquarters within the Australian territories are generally held
responsible for the operations of the BHP Billiton Limited. The company was founded in the
year 2001 when the companies of BHP and Billiton were brought together in a merger
(Bhp.com, 2018).
