INTRODUCTION
IT Systems means all computer systems, computer programs, networks, hardware,
software, software engines, electronic databases and websites used to process, store, maintain
and operate data, information and control systems owned, used or provided by the Company.
This report will cover the case study of Marks & Spencer company, This company are
selling products such as clothing, home appliance and food product. This report will analyze
the impact Of IT system of the organizations and their business. It will also discuss use of IT in
operational system of the company. This report will also provide overview of the business and
explain the manual process and also discuss about the different ways It system of the company
store and process data for the knowledge management. It will also analyze how the purpose
system is useful for the customer's relationship. In the end of this report will provide knowledge
about the communication management and it will also include the recommendation about the IT
solutions to support the change and improve the business of the M&S company and increase
their performance and stability within the company.

The impact of IT systems and their contribution to solving business problems
IT system has significant impact on the organization and there are several problems
which are being solved by IT system. The IT system has contributed in solving problem like data
generation, storage and processing of data. This has a multidimensional effect on business and its
practices. This not only helps in processing data but also ensures that data is effectively available
whenever required. M&S has also managed to solve several business problems through IT and
IT has made significant impact on the system (Bouwman and et.al., 2018). One of the key
problems which has been solved by IT is problem of being digitalis. This has become really
important as retail organizations are growing digitalis and M&S also has to digitalis its business
and to solve this problem IT system made effective contribution.
Retail organization has several problems like they have to ensure effective and fast completion of
task in order to ensure customer satisfaction and IT has solved this problem. Through IT M&S
can finish its task at billing and clearance and customers get free from these hassles and online
payment which is method of convenient payment has also been solved through IT.
These task and contribution of IT are significant for M&S because it is a retail
organisation and its effectiveness and success both depends on completion and effectiveness of

these. Through IT system and its contribution M&S can handle more customers in less time and
this contributes in increasing productivity of the organization.
Analyse the use of IT systems within different functions of an organisation
IT systems are being used in every aspect and function of the organization. There are
several functions of the organization which are completed with help of IT system (Kakabadse,
Kouzmin and Kakabadse, 2017). Some of the functions are as follows-
Promotion and Marketing
Marketing and promotion plays a vital role in success and growth of the organization. IT
has made several changes in the manner this function was carried out earlier before existence and
use of IT in marketing and promotion. Social media and digital media marketing which is carried
out by M&S are result of IT system and its utility. This marketing strategies has helped in
ensuring that M&S can increase its visibility from the most effective platforms. IT is not only
limited to promotional campaign but also contributes in analyzing success of the campaigns.
Online Retail and Commerce
Online commerce which has become revolution in retail industry is also contribution of
IT for the M&S. this has enabled M&S to sale its products through online platform. This has
increased its reach to those customers who cannot come to physical stores of the M&S (Long,
2018). IT in this is very important because IT process all the data related to products and their
availability, and this also process and store data related to customers making it possible to
execute all the functions related to their Online shopping feasible for the customers.
This suggests that in key functions of M&S IT has significant use and ensures effective
completion of the tasks.

headquartered at London, England, UK. Marks and Spencer operate worldwide and serves at
1463 locations. The company employs around 80000 employees worldwide and has managed to
earn revenue of more than £10000 million. Marks and Spencer specialize in selling clothing,
home and food products. IT systems are employed in several functions of the company or it can
be said that all the functions of Marks and Spencer are carried out with the help of IT.
