LO1 P1 Influence of organizational Culture, Power and Politics on the Behaviour of Employee and Team French and Raven's Five Forms of Power According to the French and Raven theory there are five forms of power. This types are Coercive power, Reward Power, Legitimate power, Referent power and Expert power. This form is based on concept of coercive in which the employees are forced to do something. This can create negative behavior in employee. The second type of power is reward power in which the rewards are distributed in employees on better performance. The legitimate power is based on the responsibilities. A responsible employee can improve the performance of company. Referent power is related to ability of administer to someone sense of person approval and acceptance. The last form of power is based on the high level of information and knowledge. This power full fills some roles and responsibilities of organization related to decision taking. Machiavellianismtheory 1
The Machhiavellianism Theory refers to the personal quality of seeing a person too much focused on their personal interests forces, deceive and exploit other to achieve their goals. Machiavellianism is one of the quality which is known as Dark Triad. This can make the employees inspired and motivated to perform better for company goals. The culture with in the organization can affect or influence the different areas of a team and the individual person behaviour and that can lead to theimpact on the team and individual performance. To show the influence of company culture on the team and individual performance and behaviour we can use Handy's model. To represent of cultural influence on the employees the Handy's model use four type of company culture which are power culture, role culture, task culture and person or support culture. This cultures are based on the rate of change and complexity of the work process. Formore conveniencethe power distribution is on Y axis and Level of cooperation is on the X axis. In this model the impact of the power distribution and level of cooperation within the organization on the individual and team behaviour and performance. The power explained in the Handy's model is of decision taking and making changes in the organization. This depends on the legal and organizational structure of the organization. Role Culture (Low Degree of Cooperation and Low power Distribution) In this type of organizational culture can be found in high bureaucratic organizations. This culture is also known as the Apollo culture which is named on the Greek god of Wisdom. In an organization the employees wants satisfaction and security as much as they can get. This culture is known for the strict rules, obligation, procedures and agreements. The hierarchy structure is more important than the employee performance and because of this role culture is not flexible for the employees (Bender, 2018). The management of the work is based on the predefined procedures and clear work description. This method is also applied on the individual job and communication with in the organization. The most important thing of this culture is safety, stability and predictability. For example the supermarkets use this kind of culture and in this type of culture employees feels less power and no cooperation which leads to the less satisfaction and this reduces the individual performance. This reduced performance affect the overall performance of the team. The higher communication gap affect the employee belief in the organization. This type of culture is not used in Cadbury. Power Culture (High Cooperation and Low Power Distribution) This kind of culture can be found in the entrepreneurial organization. This type of organizations are the start ups and or where the company owner have the high authority and power. This type of culture exist in the flat structured organization. These organizations are founded by the individual and it is difficult to follow the delegating procedure where the power is in hands of one person (Bortolotti, Boscari and Danese, 2015). The employees are the equal responsible for the success of the organization and the cooperation level within the employees is high and this improves the team working in the organization. With this power culture the high cooperation level is must require for the organization. This culture is also known as the Zeus culture which named on the Supreme Greek god. The power is in hand of the top authority of the company. The employees have higher belief in the company owner and leaders. The power is 3
centralized to the owner of company and the leaders have the authority to take the decisions within the organization. The delegation of the power is decided by the company owner or CEO. For example this type of culture used in supermarkets like M&S. In this type of culture employees have belief in the company owner and team which helps the individual employee to work better. Higher cooperation level improves the team working. This culture improves the individual and team performance. The only problem in this culture is the way of power distribution. Person Culture (Low Cooperation Level and High Power Distribution) Thistype of culture can be found in the professional organization. This type of organizations provide independence to the employees. The employees can work on their expertise. This type of culture exist in the law firm, health companies and the education system. This culture is also known as the Dionysus Culture who is a Greek god. These organizations provide full services to the employees. This culture is all about the knowledge and the individual skills of the person who are considered as the member of the organizations. In this type of organization number of employees are less. The power delegated in the employees as per their expertise. The level of cooperation is less in this type of organization because the members of the organization are working in their own skill on the personal goal which reduces the cooperation level (Helmreich and Merritt, 2017). The architects and social groups use this kind of culture in organization. In this type of culture the individual performance of the employees is higher but the team working is mot good. The individual performance is good in this type of organizational but because of the lower cooperation the team performance is not that much effective or good. Task Culture (High Cooperation and High Power Distribution) This type of work culture can be found in the matrix or project organizations. This type of culture is more based on the result and the organization are result based organization. This culture is also known as Athena culture who is Greek goddess like Apollo. The employees in this organization are free to operate in the organization to solve the problems of their expertise. The employees of this kind of organizations are more experienced and skilled which helps them to solve the problems with in the organization. Their goal is to implement the project in right way to optimize functionality of project (Nicolson, 2015). 4
This kind of culture is most common in the supermarkets like M&S. This culture is also used in the Cadbury to maintain behavior in the organization. In this type of culture the employees are delegated with the power and authority which improves their satisfaction level which leads to better employee and team performance. The behavior of employees and team is good for organization in goal completion. Influence of Power and Politics Power The ability and or capacity to perform or work in a different particular way.The allocation of the power with in the organization causes different kind of influences on the individual and team performance with in an organization. The power division within the organization may have positive or negative impact of the employee and team. If the power is divided in the team and team member in good manner the employee satisfaction will be higher and it can improve their trust and belief in the organization (Hatch, 2018). This kind of power allocation improve the performance of the team and individual person. If the power division is not ideal and uneven this can lead to reduce the trust of individual employee in the organization and this can lead to reduced performance of employee and team. Politics The activities in the organization that aims at improving someone's status or increasing power with in the organization.Politics is always not good for the organization. Bad politics reducesthecooperationwithintheemployeesandteamswhichisnotgoodforthe organizational. Politics with in the work place can create conflict between the employees and this can lead to the reduced performance of the employees. This how the politics can reduce the performance of team and individual employee. Cause of the politics the individual behaviour of employee affected that can reduce the efficiency of organization by ruining the organizational behavior. M1 Influence of Culture , Power and Politics on Employees & Team Performance With in Cadbury The Cadbury uses the Task culture as the organization culture which is good for all;l organization. In Cadbury the power division with in the is higher and the cooperation level is also higher which is good for employee and team performance. The HRM of the Cadbury try to 5

Growthis the basic need of individual person. If the person feels growing in the organization, this feeling make them feel happy and more trustworthy. This visible growth can motivate the employees. According to this theory the needs of a person can be classified in above catagories. The purpose of this classification is to make the company aware of different employee needs which are need to be full filled to get better output. Process theories 1 Skinner's Reinforcement Theory This theory is about positive & negative reinforcement and punishment. According to this theory if a person is performing good in the Cadbury than the company can motivate them by providing rewards and praise. This can be helpful for the Cadbury to achieve the goals. Team leader can punish an employee on improper behaviour and work. This can help to keep employees motivated towards the work. By using this theory to motivate the employee to work better to complete the company goals (Kwak, Blackburn and Han, 2015). 2 Locke's Goal-Setting Theory This theory state that the only source of the motivation is the target of the individual person or the organization. By setting the relevant target the employees can be motivated. This goal setting process should be specific to achieve the goal. This can motivate the employee to achieve the target by the time. This can help Cadbury to achieve the goal by the time. This theory suggest way to set target (Liang, Shih and Chiang, 2015.). Set the challenging and attainable goal to achieve. By measuring the selected target the employees can be motivated. This process can reduce the complexity of the goal that is helpful to achieve the goal. 8

This can help the organization to achieve the goals effectively. behaviour. The Skinner's theory can be used by the team leaders of Cadbury. Through this theory the employees can be motivated by team leaders by providing them rewards and appraise on their good work. For improper behaviour and work the employees can be punished or treated strictly to improve their performance to achieve the company goals.By applying locke's goal setting theory the company can make the employee aware about the company goal and by providing them with more detailed information, the employees can be motivated to perform better to complete the goals of the company by the time (Otte, Konradt and Oldeweme, 2018).
