Introduction
In the era of globalization, an ethical dilemma arises now and then. It is due to this reason
that ethical dilemmas are a common thing that the immigration officers and managers also face.
This has happened in the case of Mr. Smith too, who is an immigrant from Mexico and has been
working in Canada for the last seven months. His education qualifications are limited to the sixth
standard and he works in a restaurant for twelve hours a day. He does not have any major
medical issues, but after rigorous working hours for seven months, he gets a nervous breakdown.
He does not have any medical insurance and as he is an undocumented immigrant, he cannot be
offered the services of the migrant health center. In addition to this, he does not have the
financial resources to meet the expenses of treatment. This has created a humongous dilemma for
immigrant managers.
Ethical Dilemma
The issue of undocumented immigrants is extremely common in many of the nations. The
“undocumented immigrant” can be defined as an individual who is staying in a foreign land,
without having any legal documentation. This includes the individuals, who have entered
Canada, without passing the process of inspection, have not attained proper and legal permission
from the government. In addition to this, individuals who’s visa has expired and are staying in a
country, without renewing it, will also be termed as an undocumented immigrant (Garcia-Zamor,
2018).
In the case of Mr. Smith, the ethical dilemma arises due to Mr. Smith being an
undocumented immigrant. He has had a nervous breakdown. In addition to this, he has been
diagnosed with mild congestive heart failure. It is due to this precarious situation of Mr. Smith,
which has resulted in various ethical dilemmas. Due to being an undocumented immigrant, he
