This report discusses the challenges faced by Keren and Sophie in providing care for their parents with dementia. INTRODUCTION
The concept of patient-centred care is quite important in healthcare. It can help to
minimize risk of harmful treatments as well as neglect towards recipient of well-being and
social care services. In this report, it will cover the issues arises in case study while providing
care services to patients having dementia (Alshahrani, Magarey and Kitson, 2018.).
MAIN BODY
Discuss and comment on the key issues experienced by both Keren and Sophie in providing
care/support for their parents.
There are various issues occurring while providing care to parents in both the cases
such as Keren and Sophie. They both have their own family but still along with family they
are taking care of their parents also at same time. It is quite difficult for them also to manage
both the things at same time. In this, Keren and Sophie’s parents are suffering from sort of
dementia issue and it is quite normal at age above 65. Furthermore, it is quite necessary for
dementia’s patient to provide them effective care and support at time they need. And, Keren
and Sophie both are unable to provide effective care to their parents. In case of Keren, she
needs an additional care staff in local care home to provide effective care to her mother.
Having additional care staff, Keren’s mother can do the things which she wants to do in
absence of Keren. In case of Sophie, she is trying to provide effective care to her parents but
it become quite hectic for her. She is able to find about a Mumsnet forum and with help of
forum she is able to overcome her difficulty level while providing care to her parents so that
they can get support while dealing with their daily needs (Butcher, 2018).
Discuss the role and importance of a culturally sensitive service in promoting a person-
centred provision for both families.
While providing a culturally sensitive services to patients such as Keren and Sophie’s
parents in this case, needs an effective communication while dealing with patients suffering
from dementia. In this, establishing effective communication among care worker and patient
can develop a positive relationship among them. It can enable care worker to develop trust
with patients so that they can share their emotions and feelings with care workers. As sharing
things can make care worker to provide care as per their need to that they can recover well or
improve their well-being to live a quality life. The care worker needs to address as well as
understand the culture of patients so that care workers can get to know about their patients.
While providing care, care workers must respect patients’ autonomy so that patients can trust
them well. Providing effective care to patients can help care workers to reduce the developing
risk of unfair as well as harmful treatment (Riviere et. al., 2019).

CONCLUSION
From above report, it is concluded that providing efficient care to dementia patients is
quite necessary as it can provide support and effective care treatment so that they can live
their life more freely and independent.
