INTRODUCTION The process of making choice of career, bringing the improvement in the current skills and advancing the career path of an individual is known as the career development. Better career of an individual also result in the development of personality. It can be said that the career is all about the growth and development of individual in future. For a better development of career of an individual, it is necessary to make career plan because it will help the individual in selecting the best option of career as per the present skills, strengths and knowledge with definite advantages and disadvantages. Marketing manager is the selected career for this report. This career has been selected on the basis of present skills and knowledge of an individual. This report cover the personal internal analysis of an individual matching the skills required for the vacancy of marketing manager. In addition to this, this report also deal with the career action plan and designing of an effective CV which include the summery of personal skills and experiences of an individual. Measuring the personal skills and experiences is necessary in order to identifying the level of competition and some specific advancement in some areas. Career action plan help the individual in measuring and improving the specific skills, experiences and knowledge. MAIN BODY PERSONAL ANALYSIS The given scenario is based on the retail industry. In order to expand their business, the organisation is required to have a marketing manager having professional skills. That skills help the marketing manger to perform the marketing activities in an effective and efficient manner, so that the sales and revenue of organisation can be increased. Last part of career viewpoint state that the individual is highly self assured for elevating their own skills and knowledge which are found as necessary to develop, in order to achieving the personal objectives in an effective and efficient manner. As per my research and skills, I can make and develop my career as marketing manager in retail industry. I already gained the experience in this area as I have completed internship as marketing executive in retail industry. Become a marketing manger is my dream and as per my passion, I guess I can perform the role and responsibilities of marketing manager in an effective and efficient manner.Several of skills which are required to be a marketing manger of retail industry have been concluded from the previous part of this report. Some of 1
identified skills include communication skills, customer service skills, ICT skills, team work skills, marketing skills, planning and organizing skills. By analysing the required skills of marketing manager, I have analysed that I do not have all the skills which I require to gain the position of manager of marketing department. Currently, I have strengths include communication skills, team work and customer service skills. But it has been found that these skills are not enough for me to become a marketing manger in retail industry. One of my skills is communication skills which is really important to be a marketing manger as I have to properly communicate all the marketing related activities and plans with my team members and subordinates so that it can be performed in an effective and efficient manner. In addition to this, it is necessary for doing coordination with other departments in the organisation,whichispossibleonlywiththehelpofeffectivecommunicationskills. Communication skills are also necessary while communicating the details of any products or services to the customers. That time, communication is consider as the most important factor as it is used to influence the customers to buy the goods and services. I also have the skills of providing the best services to the customers. My strength is to analyse the needs and demand of customers so that I can serve the customers as my best. Another available skills in myself is the team player. Performing the marketing activities is not such a easy task which can be performed by a single individual. My skill of team player help the entire marketing department to perform the marketing activities in a group. On the other hand, I also have lack of some skills which are required to perform the function of marketing manger. Such skills include ICT skills, marketing skills and planning and organizing skills. These skills are found to be important for a marketing manager. I have to work over these skills so that I can also develop these skills and found as a perfect candidate for the job profile of marketing manager. By the use of Information skills, I can perform the marketing functions effectively. In order to attract the customers, I have to make creative marketing plans and perform them in a proper manner. Any marketing plan is required to organised in a proper manner. Hence, it is necessary for me to develop these skills. CAREER ACTION PLAN The tool which is required by an individual for the purpose of developing some weak skills by removing the weaknesses is known as Career action Plan. The entire valuation of skills which are required to be developed has been done in this plan. It has been found as necessary for 2
