INTRODUCTION
Reflection can be described as a piece or a way of writing which involves critically
analysing a particular situation or an experience in order to determine the key learning and the
ways in which these learnings can be used and implemented in the future. The present report is a
reflective piece of writing that aims to determine the key strengths, weaknesses, skills, attributes
and attitude of an individual. This skill audit will help an individual in determining his own
potential and capabilities which can be of great help in their future career development. The
present report will also include certain careers pathways that can be chosen by a graduate.
MAIN BODY
Key competencies
Along with studying in the college, I did an internship in the field of management for a
time period of around 2 months. During that period, my manager used to assign me with various
roles and responsibilities within the organization. I was able to accomplish most of the allotted
work but somehow there were certain tasks in which I used to require guidance (Vande Griek,
Clauson, and Eby, 2020). On the basis of the analysis of my work during that time, I came to
acknowledge that I am certainly good at certain skills which includes decision making,
delegation of work, collaboration of efforts made by the individual employees and planning the
upcoming course of activities within the organization. While working as an intern, I determined
that I am quite good at delegating the work to the associated work professionals. This skill can be
found helpful in my future course career. Similarly, I was good with working in teams and
collaborating the efforts of each and every member and was capable of influencing the team
members to collaborate their efforts in order to achieve the organizational goals.
However, I have identified that there are certain skills which I lack in order to excel in
my future career (Kirilov, 2020). The skills which I am weak at includes problem solving,
motivating the workforce, critical thinking and leadership skills. In order to achieve a career that
I want to achieve in my required field, it is important for myself to inculcate these skills within
myself as these will help me in my future career profession.
In order to inculcate and develop these skills within myself, it is important for to find the
relevant opportunities and grab them. So, for the purpose of developing problem solving skills
within myself, I should learn to understand the context of the problem, observe the organization
and gain sufficient knowledge about the same. Having deep knowledge about the organization

and the organizational issues will help me in understand the ways in which the troubles and
issues faced by the employees within an organization can be solved. Similarly, for the purpose of
developing the quality to lead a team, it is important for me to develop the ability to listen to
needs of each and every individual working within the team, try to resolve the conflicts between
the employees and try to avoid happening such incidents within the team. On a similar note, for
the purpose of developing the motivating skills within myself, I will have to focus on observing
the skills, competencies and the quality of work provided by the workforce within an
organization. I need to learn to recognize the efforts made by each and every individual within
the company and also reward them on the basis of the same. Rewarding them will encourage
them in order to work hard with respect to achieving the organizational goals and allow them to
feel important within the organization.
In my opinion, the adaptation of these skills and qualities within myself will allow me to
make my career in a managerial field such as the Human Resource Management (Stebleton, and
Diamond, 2018). This is so because, the skills that exist within myself and the ones that I want
acquire will help in this field. An individual who aims to become Human Resource Manger
within their future should be able to communicate effectively within the organization, determine
the needs of the employees and take steps in order to address the same. The Human Resource
manager must have effective listening skills that allows an individual to listen to the needs of the
individual and cater to them accordingly.
Justifying career pathway for short, medium and long range as a graduate:
Career pathway is one of the most important thing for every graduate allowing them to
create and follow a pathway which lead to successful career, as I want to explore human resource
as my main subject, will be focusing on career pathway of HR in the process (Bratton and et.al.,
2021). There are certain stage which allow candidate to become an HR expert and improve their
quality of career and life. Career pathway of HR leads to successful and stable life, I choose HR
because there are different area to explore, these are:
HR assistant: First and most important step in career pathway, HR assistant is starting of the
journey leads to stable career development process. As HR assistant, I will be explored different
area at lower level. For example follow the direction provided by HR staff and complete small
task, HR assistant carry information between department to department, if finance department
need any consultant then they try to contact HR department which later carried by assistant. It is

very clear that every business organization focus on small operation conducted in the business,
these are related to each member, HR assistant stay close to every query raised by employee in
the workplace. Assistant assist employee for smaller query. For example; payroll check and issue
in HR software.
HR generalist: This is second stage of HR career pathway allowing HR assistant to get
promotion and explore greater responsibility in the field of business. However, HR generalist
and assistant do not have any major change they perform almost same role and responsibility in
the company (Giancaspro and et.al., 2021). Generalist stay close to employee and listen to their
query later forward that to HR manager for further process. HR generalist stay connected with
employee and management, they listen to each and every assistant and carry forward important
information. Generalist have responsibility of hiring where they perform interview with
candidate and carefully provide information to HR manager for further process. Generalist
provide induction to employee and even provide training and development is candidate belong to
HR field.
HR manager: This is most important role in HR department, HR manager is golden stage of
career pathway allowing candidate to explore greater role and responsibility. I want to become
HR manager as this is one of the main reason why I have selected HR field in business. Manager
have responsibility to look each and every activity that occur in management of human resource,
they even play major role in decision-making process. HR manager have major responsibility
which they need to complete. For example HR manager design interview question and strategies
to hire talent, they set training and development criteria, and they focus on betterment of
employee with effective relation management technique. HR manager oversee each and every
important activity related to employee.
HR director: Director is above HR manager allowing HR department to get clear direction,
human resource management and even common management need director who carry
experience in managing any conflict arrive due to employee engagement. Director have role and
responsibility to craft policy and procedure related to human resource management for business.
HR director have responsibility to craft policy for business, they have to set certain criteria which
each employee and HR member have to follow, they focus on adding effective culture with
policy and strategies including diversity and benefit to employee. Director direct and carry vision
of the company and act according to the demand arrive from board of director.

Chief human resource officer: This stage is final where HR director become chief officer of
not only one organization, but they audit each and every organization for same industry. Chief
office are arranged by government to keep eye on HR movement in the industry, this role stay
connected with government because this keep close eye on human resource operation conducted
in the business organization (Mathis and et.al., 2016). CHRO have role and responsibility to
advice company regarding human resource management, they craft strategies to mitigate risk
arrive from unstable labour market condition and even director company for better management
of workforce. This person in business become important because this provides internal details
how company should craft policy according to the demand of business.
Justifying a range of potential progression activities that needed in career development:
Every student need continuous progress allowing them to explore different area of
development, progression activities include those opportunities that allow student to become
active and help them to become stable (Brooks and Youngson, 2016). There are certain
progression activities, I will be exploring to become active in career development process, these
are:
Skill development session: This is one of the most common but important type of progression
activity allowing student to explore area of development, I would consider skill development
session where I will try to explore different skills which help me to become effective in career
process. Due to skill development session, student gain max. knowledge allowing them to
become effective in career. However due to lack of time, student will fail to focus on skill
development impacting their career development process.
Training and improvement: After understanding weak area and improvement, student need to
focus on getting training and development. I will consider this progression activity as this will
allow me to cover weak area and I will become stable in career development process (Zacher and
et.al., 2019). However, training and improvement is needed after understanding what are the
weak area which means I have to first focus on getting experience and later on training and
development to improve these areas. Student need to consider training and development before
starting their career process as this will help student to gain max. knowledge before starting their
career life and employment in the process.

Career counselling sessions
In order to develop a wide range of skills within myself which could help me in attaining
a good career within my life, I should enrol myself for the career counselling sessions. The
career counselling sessions can be considered as a discussion between a trainer and a student or
an individual who is confused about choosing a particular profession in which he could make his
career. The career counsellors help an individual in suggesting them with different types of
career options, provides the individuals with a brief knowledge about a particular profession,
explains them about the skills required for each and every profession that is suggested to them.
The career counsellors also help the individual in determining their skill set and identify the
interest of the individual with respect to different fields and career opportunities.
Skill Based Training programs
In order to gain and acquire a valuable profession in a reputed organization, having only
theoretical knowledge with respect to the job is not sufficient. Therefore, it is essential for me to
determine my field of interest and try to gain practical knowledge with respect to them. In order
to gain the practical knowledge, it is important for me to indulge myself in skill based training
programs (Komiti, and Moorosi, 2020). These programs will help in gaining exposure and the
appropriate knowledge with respect to my field or the profession that I want to choose for the
purpose of my career development. Similarly, I can also enrol myself for internships in the
respective field which will help to gain the relevant experience and move ahead within my career
field.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it can be concluded that in order to choose a career profession in
the field of management, it is essential to inculcate several skills within an individual that helps
them in excelling their respective career profession.
