INTRODUCTION
Career planning is a process of identifying the available opportunities and personal objectives of
the individual. It refers to analysation of individual's skill, talent, interests and moral values that
enhance the chance of employment in an organisation. It includes long term and short term
objective that directs the individual to gain financially. It is important that career goals of the
person must be match to the education qualification of the individual. Career plan is made at
growing age of life where individual focus on core areas and field to achieve personal and
professional success. They are also facing various challenges and barriers in this journey but can
be mitigate with their skills and continuos practice that contributes in achieving the desired goal
of the life (Arastaman, 2019). The organisation chosen for this report is Morrison which is UK
based retail supermarket chain and well known for its quality product and services. This report
will cover importance and use of CV in a particular job along with overview of the organisation.
Further, Section B will analyse the personal statement and a core details related to CV whether
meets the requirement of job profile. Also, Section C includes self assessment of the individual
with the help of SWOT and personal development plan.

A brief introduction to indicate what the portfolio contains and the reason for both the
personal statement and the CV that will be presented.
A personal statement highlights the skill and qualification possess by the individual which is
essential requirement for the organisation. The personal statement is used to compare the other
candidate having same set of skills and capabilities. It analyse the most desirable candidate
which is most suited for the specific job role. The opportunity offers to the individual must be
match to their personal statements so that they can meet the requirements of the company.
A CV is a detailed document which shows the professional and academic qualification,
achievements and work related information and many more. It is short overview about the
education and knowledge they possess till date (Chotiyanon, and Joannidès de Lautour, 2018).
This document is used by the person to apply for the specific job role in the reputed organisation
in order to enhance their personal and professional growth.

Significance and the reasons why personal statement and the CV will be presented in the
portfolio.
 It includes applicable experiences and the skills- A well designed CV and structured
personal statement shows the individual's skill and capabilities which is used for the
employment purpose. It should be true and made in precise manner so that it would be
easy for presenting the whole achievements in a unique style.
 Core skills and knowledge that can provide to the organisation- The personal
statement must consist of set of skills and talent which is gained by the individual in
academics that adds value in the functioning of an organisation (Darmanto, and Yuliari,
2018). There are certain column in a CV, dealing with work experience and achievement
of the individual which increase their chances of employment at workplace.

headquarters in Bradford, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom. It is the fourth largest supermarket
chain in the United Kingdom. It mainly deals in business of fresh food and grocery with their
own stores. It offers one of the best service at a very reasonable and low price with a
commendable history of sale in supermarket (Dedmond, and Landis-Santos, 2018). It is
considered as one of the food specialist as it offers freshly made items to its customers by having
a competitive advantage over its competitors. The company have a supermarket history of almost

100 years in serving the needs and requirements of people all over the country of UK. It
specialises in providing local sourced products to people which are fresh in quality. It believes in
considering their customers as the main priority in order to fulfil their needs and demands in
timely manner. It works effectively with teamwork in order to provide the best quality services to
its customers. The organisation is constantly working towards improving its innovations in order
to provide effective sale and supply to its customers with improved customer service.

Morrison is one of the leading supermarket chains in the country of United Kingdom. An
individual can earn a good rise in his career by working in such company as it can even provide a
great boost to his career. There are various areas that attracts an individual to work in such
reputed and renowned organisation. The reasons which serves as beneficial factor for working in
such organisation are: Working with experienced people – The most highlighting and attractive factor that draws
an individual towards Morrison is the fact of having skilled and experienced workforce.
The fresh candidates or workers can gain a lot of knowledge and skills through the
guidance of such experienced workforce (Hung, and Yen, 2020). The exclusive and
advanced service that is provided to customers through customer service is a radiating
factor that drives an individual to grab such opportunity in the renowned and reputed

departments, groups and positions available in the company with multiple kinds of work

their orders and many more. The different kinds of activities makes an individual skilled

established name and fame all over the globe.

reputed and well known retail organisation that is specialising in providing fresh foods and
grocery products in its supermarkets (Samodro, and Kustini, 2022). The opportunity of being
able to work in such organisation will be a great boost for my career as there is scope of ample
opportunities and growth in such organisation. I have graduated from management department
and my expertise would be dealing with different kinds of humans that are connected to the
organisation. I have an experience of working in the management sector which can prove to be
beneficial for the company of Morrison. I am capable of working as a manager in Morrison as I
am skilled in financial transactions that are very necessary to have in order to work as a manager
of any company. I can handle the accounts well and can even keep a track of the products
purchased or sold in the market (Jena, 2020). I am also efficient in communicating with
customers as the skill of effective communication is very necessary to work as a manager in
order to understand the needs and demands of the customers. It is very essential to understand the
behaviour or nature of customers as it will help the company to keep its customers intact with
them. There are various duties that are required to be fulfilled as working in a supermarket and I
am capable and confident enough to handle such duties. I am also capable of working in flexible

Self assessment is generally termed as the calculation or evaluation of performance,
attitudes, and actions (Khedher, 2019). SWOT analysis can help in determining the strengths,
weakness in order to understand the positive and negative elements in order to handle and
manage the responsibilities of organisation of Morrison.
Strengths
 I am efficient in working with multiple
tasks in order to manage different tasks
at one time. I am capable of handling
the day to day activities and changes at
supermarkets of Morrison as it is a very
essential quality to posses as a store
manager. I am flexible enough to
switch to different tasks and duties
when required.
 I have the ability to communicate in an
efficient and smooth manner as it is the
essential requirement for handling of
different kinds of customers at

market, person must possess the ability
to speak and convince the consumers

skill. There are various upcoming
opportunities in Morrisons, which will

individual and they are require to use

enhancing the purchase and sell of the
organisation. The capable employees
always contribute their part in the
success of the organisation.
Another factor which may create new
opportunities for the employees is to develop
those products and services that are demanding
in the market and help the company in order to
maximise their profit. In context to Morrisons,
I can analyse the growth opportunities and
various skills may helps me in achieving the
desired goal.
 Due to stiff competition in the
competitive market, high skills and
knowledge are also demanding in the
organisation to meet the requirement of
the consumers by developing highly
creative and innovative product to
satisfy their ned and demand in the
market. However, it is an emerging
threat that may affect the position of
employee within an organisation.
 There are various barrier including
language barrier is one of the threat for
the Morrisons as they have multiple
stores in various parts on the country
ad it requires effective communication
in their local language so that the
employees can easily understand their
need and demand in the market (Pérez-

Rodríguez-Ariza, .et.al 2019).
However, I only know one or two
language that may create threat in my
workplace because of lack of
communication in their regional
language.

As a store manager of the Morrisons company, it is important for me to possess certain
skills to accomplish my work effectively and in a systematic manner. These skills are beneficial

for my future purpose and will contribute in my professional growth (Temple, 2018). There are

Specific- I requires to more specific and detail oriented for my work as it helps me in achieving
my personal goal. I want to implement my knowledge and experience at workplace.
