INTRODUCTION
The study which I examined is relating to one specific profession that is lawyer. Thus,
this report is presented in form of reflection. In this assignment I analyzed general trends that can
impact on lawyer profession negatively or positively. Furthermore, I justified required skills and
experience for chosen profession which help in their further career. In this report, I also
examined reason behind choosing the specific job opportunity. The aim of this study is to
determine the abilities and experiences relevant to lawyer profession.
Analysis and application
General trends which will impact on Lawyer profession
Lawyer is the person who practice legal professions legally and openly, there are
different trends and changes happen in profession of lawyer which directly impact on this type of
jobs from which many people apply (Bues and Matthaei, 2017).
Lifestyle changes-
Many people as young lawyer face fundamental lifestyles problems, enhanced in part by
great variety of options available to them, it impacts on lawyer profession. Wide changes have
occurred in life of individual. Unhealthy diet, stress, alcohol consuming and smoking directly
impact on person health which is not suitable for them. Life of lawyer is very tough, they cannot
be able to manage each everything effectively, changes make it more difficult for them in which
they have to suffer a lot. It impacts on practices of this profession and more while meeting
sessions with number of clients.
Meeting changing expectations of clients-
There are number of people facing some legal issues and seek to obtain professional’s
guidance which help them to overcome challenges, but their expectations are changed time to
time which put negative impact on specific job role or profession such as lawyer. Clients during
cases change their requirement and expectation as well which make it more difficult for lawyer
to comply with it as it required a lot of time and efforts to work accordingly. Furthermore, they
pick from among many competent persons in virtually every practice area. Clients assume that
legal knowledge, solid skills and experience are baseline in lawyer which need to be carried by a

person while practicing under lawyer profession. These requirement and expectation put impact
on lawyer job role (Mitchell, 2017).
Globalization-
It has also far reaching ramifications on legal professions which has increased complexity
and pace of law practices. This led to many people who cannot cope to leave practice,
globalization increased the mobility of lawyers with right legal experience as well as skills.
Furthermore, this trend impact in term of requirement. Due to globalization many companies
enter into new market at global level, they need lawyer here, who can give them proper
directions in regards to legal activities, it impacts positively on this profession. Some of their
clients come from outside UK who also need lawyer for obtaining information about legal
process of doing businesses.
Technology-
The information revolution changed the way law is being practiced. Most lawyers have
computer and laptop on their desktop with access to legal databased, internet and software
applications. Technologies impact positively on lawyers; it allows them to practice more
effectively and efficiently. Advancement of technology enhance the practices of lawyers; it
makes them able to solve issues legally as they can get any information regarding cases at just
one click by using laptop and smart phone. Technology is quite beneficial for people; they can
use it at any place or any time for obtaining new info and data related to their work & job role.
Skills or knowledge and experience required
Good communication skills-
To be become a good lawyer strong communication skill is very essential, applicants
must have strong written & oral communication abilities to appropriately relay critical legal
information. The most important portion of this job is to make strong and undoubted discussion
or arguments which are presented in court room as well as out off it. Clients and Judges all have
their own beliefs and opinions so as a lawyer person need to be able to reach out to all of them
and persuade accordingly (Smith and Spencer, 2020).
Time management skills-

Effective time management begins with planning how to spend time to allocate to
practicing law. This type of skills is important in career of lawyer, they have a heavy workload
and pressure from clients, in that situation person time management skills work effectively.
Having the right organizational and time management abilities permits for a person work to be
performed more efficiently and effortless. Lawyers experience demanding deadlines at short
term notice, this skill help them to deal and fulfil the demand. By having time management skills
lawyers lead to more time to enjoy extracurricular activities.
Judgement-
Creativity is significant, an applicant to become a lawyer must have some skills for
example communication and judgement abilities which is essential for their career. Lawyer must
have the ability to make strong judgment at core of their work, they need the skill to reasonably
and logically draw conclusions based on few amounts of data they receive. During the court
hearing, lawyers will be aware of opinions their rivals are making which finding flaws and
weakness in logic through the procedures.
Research skills-
It is very important for lawyers and person who want to become a lawyer having research
skills. They had to spend a lot of time in reading up old cases and digging around in archives.
Research skills make them able to read wider amounts of data and info in short term period,
comprehend facts, charts, figures and also help to analyze the cases in a way that will be used
later in similar situations. The habit of concluding few significance points from wider articles
and documents is the best way to enhance research skills.
Analytical skills-
Good analytical skills are very important quality for lawyers, it is transferable abilities
that will help in almost any situation and also help in improving these talents that can make them
better communicators, creators, thinkers and better lawyer. By having this skill, a person work
more effectively they can review complex written documents, make connection between legal
authorities and draw inferences. Analytical skills required for job profession as lawyer which
make applicant able to solve issues and find appropriate solutions to solve legal cases.

Knowledge of legal procedures-
Understanding and knowledge of legal process as well as code is very important for a
applicant who want to become as lawyer or currently practicing law. Basic knowledge of law and
codes will help lawyer to comprehend and tackle different legal matters, from consumer
protection to fundamental rights. By obtaining knowledge of law process lawyer can cater
pragmatic and business minded legal suggestion to more of their abilities (Mohanty, 2017).
Public speaking knowledge-
Public speaking knowledge is must while practicing law or performing as lawyer, it is
mostly needed in litigation where lawyer had to present arguments in court, based on different
cases. Good and effective public speaking knowledge make person able to connect and
communicate with its clients in effective manner.
2 Areas of experience-
Commercial law-
Lawyers must have experience in some specific areas such as commercial law which they
can use while providing advice in commercial field. It includes legal issues that occur in running
of commercial transactions and businesses. The experience within commercial law make person
able to provide legal advice that help to protect businesses from every type of sticky legal
situations.
Public law-
This law includes criminal laws and laws regulating commerce. The experience in public
law process is very beneficial for a lawyer as it helps them to win the criminal case and help
other people to get fair justice.
Evaluation
While conducting this study I had been evaluated that to become a lawyer some skills and
knowledge is required because it help to get better achievement in the future. I realized that it
was the best job form me because u have all the skills which has been mentioned above for

lawyer profession, it would help in developing my career brighter in the field of law. I am
interested in this job role because I can make effective decisions, conduct arguments based on
situational analysis and provide better advice related to case study which cater full justice to
clients and satisfied their needs. Lawyers job role is very unique position it helps people, teams
and companies with their legal issues and to further public good. I like to do this job and play
effective role as lawyer because I would prefer to help individuals and support to overcome
critical cases. This job role is related to my potential choices professions because it wants to be a
good lawyer and have all the abilities. I prefer lawyer profession as the best job opportunity for
me more than other I considered as it gives a better career growth and make a positive image in
society. Another reason behind choosing lawyer job role is that the requirement of lawyer for
getting legal advices are now arise more and more, people and wider organizations find out the
best lawyers to take commercial transaction advices that help to protect from legal issues.
