1THE CAREER I HOPE TO FOLLOW Thesis statement: “It is important to find a career which is both fulfilling the basic financial needs and also satisfying the needs for work-life balance”. From a career perspective, it is important that it fulfills the basic financial needs. The career I need to follow will be full of opportunities in terms of basic pay. It means a lot to most of the professionals who are currently working and students who are into their academics. It means a lot to me as well. This is because I need to maintain mine and my family’s basic needs. Responsibilities will grow as time passes on. Responsibilities will generally comprise of different needs including the financial needs also. I have my personal needs as well. I love to have outings with my friends. I also love to go on a trip with my friends. Nonetheless, these are a few things which require a healthy spending. The job that I wish to pursue will expectedly fulfill such needs. I will be able to enjoy as much as I wish; however, the level of enjoyment will actually depend on the monetary capability I am able to generate with my dream career. My career must also provide me the much-needed work-life balance. Work-life balance indeed is a leverage which is rarely provided to global employees. There are only a few companies which stand well in this regard. Work-life balance does not just encourage a commitment to work; it also provides a lot of benefits to health. Health is very important to avoid unwanted absenteeism and leaves. Nevertheless, absenteeism and leaves are okay unless its numbers are up to the acceptable extent. However, it is never a guarantee that a person struggling to maintain a good health is also able to maintain the minimal requirement for attendance to work (Deery & Jago, 2015). In addition to this, it is also noteworthy that work-life balance brings flexibility into life which is a challenge post getting a job. Such circumstances put the unwanted negative thoughts for employers. Notably, work-life balance is one of the reasons which professionals consider to shuffle between companies. Millennials in particular are very
2THE CAREER I HOPE TO FOLLOW frequent with a switch over to companies (Haar et al., 2014). They do it until an extent which is also considered until the maximum age limit as set by the Millennials themselves. They look for shuffling between jobs and companies until the age of 35-37. This is the stage of life when Millennials consider settling with whatever they have. Such tendency compels professionals especially the Millennials to prioritize their job search for work-life balance (Mas-Machuca, Berbegal-Mirabent & Alegre, 2016). It is indeed mentionable that work-life balance like to others is also very important to me. In summary, this can be said that a career of my choice will be both fulfilling my basic financial needs and also the needs for work-life balance. The career should be valuable to the professionals and for those who are associated with them. There must be the evident differences between the work and the life.
