INTRODUCTION
Business is something which helps an individual to keep themselves busy in some productive
activities (Cai, Jun and Yang, 2020). In order to earn livelihood and individual involve
themselves in several activities which are called business activities. With the emerging time there
are various types of business which year established in various forms having many functions in
their structure. Business environment refers to the internal and external activities which effects
the operations and profitability of an organization. J. Sainsbury TLC is a Supermarket
organization of UK which deals in groceries and other general merchandise. The company
operates through 1428 stores at different locations in United Kingdom. This report contains
various types and purposes of organization in either of the sector public private and voluntary
with their legal structure. There are various types of organization which have different size and
scope. This report also contains the structure size and scope of Sainsbury PLC is a private
organization and their linked with the objective products and services. It also helps to analyze
various micro and macro environmental factors and internal analysis of sensory PLC in order to
analyze positive and negative impact of these factors on the business operations of Sainsbury’s
PLC.
TASK 1 Different types, size and scope of organizations
Different types and purposes of organizations public, private and voluntary sectors and legal
structures
Private sectors: Private sector organizations are the organizations which are established for a
profit motive and can be both government owned and private owned bodies. The main purpose
of an individual to set up a private sector organization is to earn profits for their growth and
development. The generation of income from this sector provide contribution to the GDP of a
country. Sainsbury is a great example of private organization which is a supermarket
organization and work for generating a huge range of revenue. The main motive of the
organization is to earn more and more profits for their growth and development (Cheah, 2020).
Legal structure: Sainsbury is the second largest chain of supermarkets in the country United
Kingdom. As it is a private organization there are various types of businesses which are

operating in this modern era and have different legal structures. Sainsbury is a joint stock
company which has a separate legal entity in the market from the owners of the company.
Public sector: Public sector organizations are those organizations which are owned and operated
by government. These organizations are established to provide better services to the citizens and
not to generate profit. The main purpose of these organizations is to provide essential services to
the general public. These organizations are funded by taxes paid by citizens of a country and
generally deal in essential services areas such as education, health, housing and social work.
Virgin money is a public sector organization with the aim to offer a good value to their
customers by delivering a positive contribution towards the society (Chukhray and Mrykhina,
2020).
Legal structure: Public sector organizations are generally government owned organizations and
there legal structure is based on a company which has their separate legal entity. Virgin money is
a UK Challenger bank which has its focus on residential mortgages credit cards and savings
accounts.
Voluntary sectors: Voluntary sector organizations those organizations which will only care
about social activities and are established as a non-profit organizations. These organizations are
not owned by government and established for the Welfare of society. These organizations are
established with a sole purpose of giving several benefits to the society without any profit
motive. The major example of these types of organization is Cancer Research UK. This
organization provides social services by conducting research and campaigns related to the
prevention of cancer in the society.
Legal structure: This type of organization have strong structure which provide several benefits
to the society and get a good legal support from the government. Cancer research group UK has
a good legal structure which supports its internal structure and includes 17 experimental cancer
medicine Centre nine clinical trial units and many more.

Sole proprietorship: Sole proprietorship is a type of organization which it is run by a single
person and does not have any type of legal distinction between the business entity and the owner.
It is that the owner works alone in case of sole proprietorship and it is possible that they can
