3CASE STUDY ANALYSIS Introduction The plant manager of a refrigerator production plant, Frank Peichowski was operating in the electrical appliance industry which was highly competitive. There were various companies who established themselves in the industry and the only base for competition apart from innovation was price. It was identified by the latter that the consumers were intelligent and did their research before entering the market that was highly competitive. Hence the manager was one looking for opportunities to curtail the cost as a result of which he decided to engage a group of workers with the help of Halima Adana who was the spokesperson for the Somali Workers union. All of the workers were Muslims as a result of which accommodations were made. However as a result of some ritual that they carried out, it posed problems to the operations. The aim of the paper is to adjudge the efficacy of the manager, assess the external environment for operations of the company. Key issues Following are the key issues that were detected; 1.Price competition in the industry that the company was operating in. 2.Lack of cheap labour. 3.Problem associated with the sunset prayer of all the line workers that would vacate the line and half the productivity of the plant. Thus, it can be said that the first line manager is the voice of the department that is responsible for carrying out the responsibilities associated with a certain department of the organisation (Gilbert, Winne & Sels, 2011). It the role of the first in line manager to communicate to the employee of the organisation as well as the mangers and executive who are directly above the manager. Improvement of the process is one of the key roles of the line manger along with the fact that the latter is responsible for moulding and influencing the policies that might affect the employees (Nehles, Riemsdijk & Looise, 2013). Furthermore, the line manager is the authority who is responsible for maintaining smooth operations in the concerned department of the organisation. Frank Peichowski was responsible for solving the issues that were related to the price of the services and the products that the consumers were subject to. Moreover, the latter had the ability to influence the activities that were being carried out in the organisation and that is what the latter carried out by changing the food that was served in the canteen of the plant. Furthermore, he also helped in coping with the needs that were associated with the people of the culture that they were serving. The aim of the manger was to provide a favourable culture inside the organisation as a result of which the temporary employee would be able to feel at home at the place that they are working. Although the aim of the manager was to reduce the price that the organisation spends behind labour. Hence, is important to adjudge the external environment for the operation of the company. Same has been carried out with the help of PESTEL analysis. Political factors: The country has a political environment that is deemed to be safe and stable (Hicks & Ison, 2011). The human rights policies of the country have been subject to criticism as a result of which the awareness regarding the same has risen considerably in the current time. Economic factors: The economy of the country is deemed to be economically blooming. The GDP of the country has been rising favourably and thus it has been attracting FDI. Furthermore, the service sectors of the country is large which is the reason behind the fact that the country has been able to provide employment opportunities to people in the country (Brady et al., 2012). Furthermore, the international trade policies favour imports and exports with the help of favourable import and export rates. Social factors: The country as a whole is reputed for the fact that the people of the country are highly friendly. The country consists of people from different culture, making the country famous as a multicultural spot (Forrest, Lean & Dunn, 2016). Various languages are spoken in the country and the increase in opportunities for quality education has been attracting students from various parts of the worlds to come and study in Australia. There is considerable amount of concern that the people of the country have for each other and even though hierarchy exists in

Technological factors: The Company has favourable attitudes towards innovation with high sum of money that is being invested in research and development for catering to the needs of innovation that is being carried out in the country. Technological innovation is the country is evident and the country has been responsible for innovations such as the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, antivirus software and many other forms of innovations. Environmental factors: There is considerable amount of awareness that the country has against the degradation of environment. There are various organisations that have been established in the country for the protection of the wide range of flora and fauna of the country (Whiteman et al., 2015). The country has wide coast and aquatic life as a result of which the country attracts a lot of tourist inward to the country. Thus various international, national and state policies have been implemented for the protection of the abiotic factors. Legal factors: There is availability of various legal factors of the internal operations of the country are influenced by. There are laws for the protection for the intellectual properties such as patent and copyrights (Durette, 2018). Furthermore, there is availability of laws such as laws for protection of labour, laws for favourable trade and consumer protection laws. Hence the external environment for the operation of the country implies that there is high amount of innovation that is being carried out in the company as a result of which the competition in the electronic appliances industry is rising.Furthermore, the social attitudes of the country justifies that appreciation of labour from Somali along with the favourable for the protection of the latter.

However, problems are being faced in the form of the sunset prayers that the whole group of line workers have to perform at the same time. The following can be recommended in order to curtail the scope of the problem; To discuss the issue with the line workers and ask for recommendations with smooth communication. To extend accommodate the same by extending additional half of an hour in their duty time. Use biometric systems and make accommodation for praying outside the biometric pass. Engagewithdifferentlabourunionsandincludepeoplefromdifferentcultural backgrounds so that the line is not left completely vacated during prayers.
