INTRODUCTION
In organisation, business operations and management play vital and help firm to grow and
develop at rapid level. Business operation is defined as entities inner working and managing of all
the administrative activities in efficient manner to achieve the desired goals. Sainsbury
headquartered in UK, is the largest multinational firm providing products, goods & services across
the globe. Business operations of company is handled as well as managed by manger & HR of
enterprise. It is essential for very entity to manage such operations so that goals & objectives are
achieved in proper manner. This report includes functions of business operations, description of the
company, and evaluation of firm operation’s management decisions.
Functions of business operations
In business and operation management, there are many functions which are operated under
this such as sales, marketing, legal etc. All these functions boost the productivity and growth of the
business. Types of business operations are mentioned below-
Finance
In business, finance function assist business to maintain and manage the resources as well
as manpower so that business expands at rapid level. In relation with Sainsbury, finance audit team
manage all the revenue and expenditure of business. In this several tasks are involved such as
preparing balance sheet, tax compliance, budgeting, securing organisation assets and capital etc.
Also, high level of skills and expertise are required to handle finance in the business so that
conflicts & errors do not arise. (Choi, 2016).
Production & operations
Another function of business operation is production and operation in which goods as well
as products are processed into production & with help of operation they are sold to end users. Both
these are carried out simultaneously to achieve the assigned task within a period of time. Sainsbury
use this function in appropriate manner so that customers get what they want.
Production
In this function, certain stages take place such input, process, output, and feedback. It is
continuous process because in this management manages the incoming input as well as output and
which assist business in identifying and examining the customer actual need & requirement (Choi,
2016).
Sales
In business a product is of no use if it is not being sold in the market. So, in sales function
