INTRODUCTION
Project management is an process of leading the work of team member so that the
desired project objectives can be achieved in the given constraints. There are various
document are prepared in order to start and sustain project for longer time frame related to
scope, time and budget. Moreover project management process involves four to five stages
such as planning, execution, performance or monitoring and project closure. Project manager
through putting its best efforts tries to motivate each team member to collectively work as
team for achievements of end objective of project. This report is about one of the project
named as Smart city OS that has contained detailed pertaining to skills that project manager
requires, problem solving and decision making, managing finances and the way risk of
project will be managed so that optimum outcome can be achieved. Furthermore it has
contained detailed of the way conflict and negotiation can be managed and the way people
work in team so that project can be completed in limited time frame and cost. At last it has
done self evaluation related to things that I have learned through project management and the
way it will help me in future circumstances to achieve greater success.
TASK 1
The project manager
Critical analysis of skills needs to be developed by project manager of Smart city OS
project and possible action it need to take in developed certain skills for better outcome
Project manager is the person or head of the project that is responsible for taking all
important decision related to the project so that end outcome can be achieved. The manager is
responsible for planning, organising, coordinating and controlling the activities that are
associated with the project for fruitful results. There are various skills that need to be
presented or developed by the project manager of Smart city OS to gain effective results.
Such as:
Leadership: The most important skills that need to be present in project manager is
leadership as it must have capabilities to lead and motivate individuals to effective work for
common objective rather than fighting with each others. Project manager need to guide and
direct team member related to the way particular task need to be completed so leadership
skills will helps in guiding and managing diverse range of people to work hard (Gray and
Ulbrich, 2017).

Communication skills: Another skill that need to be developed by project manager of Smart
city OS is communication as it helps in understanding the way person information is shared
to others so that task can be completed. The project manager in order to clearly explain each
individuals about their respective roles and responsibilities in firm need to developed a good
communication and command skills so that team member actively devote their time, efforts
and energy in achieving the end goals of project.
Risk management: It can be stated that most of the project involves certain amount of risk
that is it may be low or high so that project manager is solely responsible for minimising the
risk for benefits of project (Alvarenga and et.al., 2019). Therefore, Smart city OS project
manager must have capabilities to management the associated risk so that maximum benefits
can be enjoyed and project can be made successful.
Cost management: Project manager is also responsible for managing the overall cost of
project through reducing or eradicating unnecessary activities. Thereby it need to developed
cost management skills through making effective budget, planning and identified actual
expense that need to be incurred for completion of particular project. Thus identified the way
particular activity can be completed in limited cost.
So, all these are major skills that project manager of Smart city OS need to developed
to effective complete its roles and responsible and make project more successful (Wasson,
2020). Furthermore, in order to develop key skills there are various method that can be used
by project manager which are illustrated as follows:
Skills Method that will be used to develop skills
Communication skills In order to developed communication skills project manager need
to read more books, learn new words and enhance its vocabulary. It
should also improve its gesture and posture and developed listening
habit in order to effective developed communication skills (Morón,
and Calvo, 2018).
Cost management
skills
For developing cost management skills, project manager first need
to developed critical thinking skills in order to identified associated

expense, then gain knowledge of total expense or cost need to be
incurred on particular expenses. Then it needs to find alternative
method to reduce cost and make effective budget for project.
Leadership skills The project manager to work on development of leadership skills
will learn from successful manager through reading their article or
making use of internet to gathered information about them. It will
use internet to know the way an individual can be a good leader.
Risk management skill At last to develop risk management skills project manager will
need to enhance it critical thinking and decision making skills so
that it can identified associated risk within the project. Thus take
decision related to the risk can be managed effectively for best
results of project and achievements of end goals (Ravinder and
Kollikkathara, 2017).
TASK 2
Problem solving and decision making
The smart city project is among the most ambitious projects held by the government.
This project will take on the different issues and problems that government is facing at this
point in time. The entire project is designed in such way that government is aiming to serve
the smart services to its people. The project will interact with the following stakeholder group
that would influence the overall engagement of the project.
Government: is among the most prominent stakeholder that would affect from this whole
mission. The project is based on the fact that people of country should get influenced with the
various aspects or factors. Government always aim to bring policies that can match up with
the needs and demands of the people of country (Locatelli and et.al., 2017). The aim of the
government is to improve the standard of living of country and the people. This entire project
would cherish the image of the government as well that would further support the
government to achieve the best level of satisfaction of the local people. The issue of the

government is related to the finances and the financial resources are always limited in number
that make it more challenging for the government to achieve success under this project.
Peoples: Is also one of the key stakeholder group part of this project. The people of the city
would also face some issues or inconvenience as any time any public project implemented t
causes to some issues and inconvenience with the local people of the city. This is a major
issue that may times due to the project people start protesting against the project even if it is
good and for the beneficial for the local people. The lack of information in the local people is
also an issue that is associated with this stakeholder group.
Suppliers: are also a major stakeholder group belonging to the smart city project. In every
project soppier play a huge role. In the smart city government is aim to provide the fast
internet facility and many such. All this fibber line and much such initiative require strong
support from the suppliers of the respective material. This is important that this stakeholder
group must cope up with the possible availability of the different equipments (Liu and et.al.,
2021). The issue with the supplier is such that the payment in many cases becomes an issue.
Many suppliers also do not trust the government authority when it comes to payment as it
requires a long process to recover the respective payment.
The above mentioned stakeholders are the prominent stakeholder associated with the
smart city projects. There are many others like investors who will put out the funds in the
project and many such stakeholder groups will also be a part of the project. In other similar
projects also the role of stakeholder groups are really important in the completion of the
whole project. This is essential for the stakeholder to control each and every functional area
to deal with the expectations of the stakeholder group belongs to the smart city project
(Michnej and Zwoliński, 2019). This is important that the government established a proper
communication with all these stakeholder groups so that best level of control over the
outcomes could have been established by the government over the success of the mart city
project. The regular communication with support of different government officers are
delivered so that the proper trust between the authorities and the stakeholders could have
been established. The key issue would be with the people that do not get aware about the
development stages of the entire project. Government should also regularly update all the
necessary information regarding development or progress of the smart city project.
