3LIAM’S CASE STUDYIntroduction:From a large number of years, it was seen that professionals used to follow thebiomedical model of care. The biomedical model of care is mainly the traditional approach thatmainly concentrated on the physical as well as the biological aspect of the specific diseases aswell as conditions. However, this approach to care was severely criticised by the modernresearchers. This is mainly because the modern researchers are of the opinion that only caring forthe biological symptoms may not result in high quality life of the individuals as the social andpsychological determinants have the power to disrupt the quality of life of patients. Therefore, the model of care that should be considered by the healthcare professionals in the presentgeneration is called the bio-psycho-social model of care. This model of health mainly attempts inaddressing the broader influences on health that are mainly seen to include the social, cultural, environmental as well as the economic factors rather than focusing singularly on the diseasessymptoms (Hennigsen, 2018). In the assignment, the individual professionals should apply thebio-psycho-social model of care by which the different determinants of health of the client wouldbe recognised and accordingly interventions should be provided for providing high quality carefor the patient.
