She hasasupportivefamily andhas a sonand a daughter.Herdaughterliveslocallyandvisitstwiceaweek. Hersonlivesinterstate withhisfamily.Membersofherchurchalsovisitheronceaweek. She takes the helpof family members and taxis to get around. Betty is an ex-smoker and gave up smoking 10years ago.She has a medical history of Hypertension,Hypercholesterolaemia, Asthma/COPD,Osteoarthritis.She wasadmitted in the hospital as she was suffering from achestinfection.Thedoctors diagnosed that she was suffering fromLeftlower lobe pneumonia[ CITATION Cha15 \l1033 ].When she was admittedin the hospital, she developed a fracture intheright neckoffemur.Betty wastaken totheEmergencyDepartment(ED) with the help of an ambulance. Shesuffered from hightemperature,shortnessofbreathandcongestion in the chest.HerdaughterJane,was informed that her mother was hospitalized.Achestx-ray andblood tests wereconductedintheED and the reports showed that Betty was suffering from pneumonia.Shewasadvised on intravenous(IV)antibiotics,oxygentherapyandVentolinandNormalSalinenebulisersby the clinicians in the hospital. Bettywastransferredto the respiratory or a medicalward on the same day in the afternoon[ CITATION Sta15 \l 1033 ].The clinical practice issues of concern in Betty’s care that her mother was not given anymedicaments in the morning by the nursing staffandusual medicationswere notwrittenuponhermedicationchart[ CITATION Lei14 \l 1033 ].Jane had a talk with the nurse that her motherseemedtobeabitconfused and it was not normal asher mother was normallyquite alert andorientated. 2NURSING CASE STUDYto call the staffandshouted inaloudvoice to seek help.Thenursefound out that Betty waslaying on the floor nextto her bed.Her IV was pulledout and there wasbloodwas allover thefloor.She was moaning.It was observed by the nurses thatBettyhaddeveloped alacerationonherforeheadandherrightlegandfoot wasexternally rotated.The nurses also found out thatBettyhadurinatedonthe floor.When Jane was informed about it she was furious that proper carewas not given to her mother inspite of informing the nurse that she was in a confusedstate[ CITATION Wal14 \l 1033 ].Bettywas observed bytheresidentmedicalofficer,whoadvisedanurgentheadCTscanandx-rayof herlegs.The reports of theCTscanwere normal butthex-ray showed thatBettyhaddeveloped an intracapsularfracture in herrightneck of femur.Bettywas advised asurgery bytheorthopaedic team in the morning and her hip wound edges were not healing as shehad developed an infection.This shows that the surgical procedure was not successful aswell[ CITATION Ågo16 \l 1033 ]. Answer 2.TheNational Health and Safety Standardswere developed by the Commission inorder to improve the quality of health care in Australia by the implementation of safety andquality systems.There are 10 NSQHS Standards in order to ensure quality care for patients andsatisfaction. These are as follows: 1. Governance for Safety and Quality in Health Service Organisations which involves theprovision of quality healthcare services to the patients. 2. Partnering with Consumers which aims to develop several strategies in order to develop ahealth system that is consumer-centred. It also includestaking a feedback from consumers duringthe development and design of quality health care.

Preventing and Controlling Healthcare Associated Infections which involves different typesstrategies in order to prevent infection in patients during the treatment in the healthcare systemand.It also involves using proper methods to manage infections in an effective manner whenthey occur to reduce the drastic health effects[ CITATION Alk16 \l 1033 ]. 4. Medication Safety which involves the formation of proper systems and strategies in order tomake sure that the clinicians have prescribed and administer to patients. 5. Patient Identification and Procedure Matching which involves the formation of appropriatesystems and strategies for the correct identification of patients.This standard is developed tomake sure that the identity of the patient matches with the correct treatment[ CITATIONHub13 \l 1033 ]. 6. Clinical Handover which involves the formation of appropriate systems and strategies inorder to make sure that the clinical communication is done in an effective manner to provideproper patient care. 7.
