INTRODUCTION
Public health can be defined as an art and science of preventing disease as well as improving
quality of lives of people. This study is based on Start4life that is public health program,
developed by NHS for improving public health as it supports healthy child program. The main
aim of this organization is to protect children of 5 years from obesity and promote health of
pregnant women. This study will discuss aim and objectives of Tower hamlet as well as of
Smart4life. It will further discuss target people of this program, developed by Smart4life in order
to understand its services and effectiveness of its services. It will then evaluate and implement all
data of Smart4life and by comparing effectiveness of services with similar firms. It will help in
getting positive outcomes. Lastly, it will recommend some strategies and improvement in
services that can better help pregnant women and children of 5 years in protecting against
obesity and also promoting health of children and pregnant women.
MAIN BODY
Tower hamlets
In regard to Tower hamlet, it can be said that it is a London Borough council that is located in
East London. It covers much area of traditional East End. This London Borough in Social4life
public health campaign provides information to people regarding health and social care. Some
common health and social care information that it provides to general people include: GPs,
adoption as well as fostering of services for older people. But in regard to Social4life, it found
that Tower hamlet provides information related to pregnancy like types of food that they need to
have during pregnancy, post pregnancy and food that should be given to toddler in order to
protect them against obesity. There are several objectives that this London Borough wants to
accomplish in Social4life program such as:
 To provide better and easy access to people to all services related to pregnancy and
children of 5 years.
 To improve health of toddlers, maternal health by working effectively and collaboratively
with social workers and with partners.
 To make all pregnant women and their family members aware regarding improving
health and providing extra care to pregnant women and children of 5 years. It can lead

healthy pregnancy period and can also have better impact on overall quality lives of
society.
People can have easy access to this website and can know all about regarding pregnancy period
and accordingly they can improve this period and health of children of up to 5 years.
Brief introduction of Start4life and program
In regard to Start4life it can be said that it is a sister brand of change4life, that is a public
health campaign works for improving healthy living of people of England. The main aim of this
campaign is to improve health of toddlers and children less than 5 years along with taking care of
pregnant women. It provides all important information related to service care for pregnant
women by which they can give birth to healthy child. Overall aim of this public health program
is to encourage healthy lifestyle. For this, it works with skilled social care providers and help
parents to be, mom and dad to get all information regarding ways of giving the best possible start
to their child. A healthy living can be started or lead by improving health of pregnant women and
toddlers.
This governmental campaign that is being developed or launched for supporting better start
in life for infants is doing better. By providing appropriate information to pregnant women
regarding breastfeeding, foods that they need to have and physical exercise, it is focusing on
accomplishing all pre-set goals. So, overall, it can be said that this public health campaign wants
to promote behaviours from birth in order to protect them from obesity in later life. It is believed
that by taking care of children of 5 years, chances of obesity in their later life can be decreased to
the great extent that can have positive impacts on quality of lives of people. All these services to
pregnant women and children of up to age 5 are being given or supported by local authorities
across the country.
Aim and objectives of Start4life
On the basis of above discussion and effectiveness of Star4life, public health campaign, it
can clearly be said that it wants to promote or improve health of pregnant women and children of
up to 5 years. For better understanding about this campaign, it is important to develop some aim
and objectives that it wants to accomplish include:
 To improve pregnancy period in order to lead positive birth child.
 To improve health of children and babies up to 5 years by encouraging healthy life.
 To provide all information and care that can keep children safe and healthy as well.
