INTRODUCTION
Motivation is played very essential role in enhanced productiveness of employees in the
organization (Galvin and et.al., 2019). This study is based on Jack Store. It is new store opened
by the Tesco. Report will explain the two motivational theories, its advantages and disadvantage
to their Jack discount store.
MOTIVATION THEORIES
Motivation
Motivation is the term derived from motive that refers needs, desires and wants within
the single person. It is the procedure of exciting people to actions to achieve the objectives. It is
the explanation for activity, willingness and objectives of people. It is the one direction to
attributes of individuals. It has been considered as one of the most essential cause which inspires
person to move forward in life (Ryan and Deci, 2017). Motivation as desire to act the activity is
normally determined as having two portions and, directing like oriented towards positive input or
away from negative one and activated seeking phase. For increase motivation, HR assistant
follow the motivation theories within the Jack stores. Motivation theories involves content and
process theory of motivation. In content theories include Maslow's Need hierarchy, Herzberg's
two factor, McClelland's achievement motivation. Process theories involve Vroom's expectancy,
Locke's goal setting theory etc.
Motivation theories
Vroom's Expectancy theory of motivation:
The expectancy theory points an importance on procedure as well as on content of
motivation. It incorporates necessarily, interest as well as reinforcement theories. The aim of
Victor Vroom's expectancy theory to explicate ways of group select from available activities.
They determine motivation as procedure which regulates choices between secondary kinds of
voluntary behaviour (Nikolić and Šenk, 2018). The basic reason of Vroom's Expectancy theory
is which motivation forms from impression that judgements will have their desirable result.
There are three factors are involved in this theory such as following:
Expectancy: It relates efforts to performance. The person's beliefs which more attempts
will result in attainment. If people work harder, so that it will outcome in better
performance within the Jack store.

Valence: It refers value or strength one place on particular result or rewards. The level to
that person values the rewards and result of success (Nicholls, 2017).
Instrumentality: It means the belief that execution is related to rewards through
instrumentality. If the individual's value that there is link among action as well as
objective. If the people act well, so that they will get rewards.
A person who does not see the link among the efforts and execution will have zero
expectancy. An individual who can not perceive the link among execution will have payment
will have zero instrumentation. For the individual who does not worth the awaited result, rewards
will have zero valence. This help to people for working hard within the Jack discount stores. This
theory helps to modify action and productiveness of workers in the Jack Stores.
Advantage:
The expectation of employees are boosted by rewards and incentives within the
organization (Galvin and et.al., 2019).
This can device of motivational procedure with proper set of goals which improves
execution of employees in the workplace.
This theory helps to improve the performance and productiveness of employees in the
Jack Stores.
Disadvantage:
This theory purposes not activity in practice without active participation from managers.
This theory assumes all elements are already called.

This theory is combination of motivation just like expectancy theory. It states which
setting particular, difficult execution objectives as well as seriousness of these objectives are
important crucial of motivation (Ryan and Deci, 2017). Goals determine a desirable upcoming as
well as these set objectives can cause the attributes within the Jack discount store. The goal
achievement further motivates single persons to act. This theory helps to improve the
performance and productiveness of employees in the Jack Stores. There are many guidelines
useful in goal setting theory such as:
It is setting the difficult but possible goals which means too simple and too difficult or
unrealistic goals do not motivate the people.
It is establishing special as well as measurable goals in which focus towards what they
want and can measure the progression towards the objective.
The seriousness of goals can be acquired. If the people do not commit to the objectives,
so that they will not put attempt toward achieving the goals, even specific or challenging
ones.
Goal setting is helpful approach that can be implemented in many areas from recreation
to broad scope of work setting. The theory of goal setting has been integrated into figure of
incentives curriculum as well as administration by objectives tools in figure of activity field
(Nikolić and Šenk, 2018). Feedback move goal attainment can also increase employee's job
execution as well as capabilities to become more originative on the job through trial and error
learning procedures.
Advantages:
It is the good for appreciate capabilities of employees in the organization and gives ideas
and of their full potential.
Goals make life more challenging but at same time, they provide sense of personal
satisfaction.
Disadvantages:
the normal premise of theory is that individuals and teams produce the best result when
motivated by specific, challenging and quantified goal (Nicholls, 2017).
There are only few obstacles that goals setters must considers.

CONCLUSION
This report has discussed that HR assistant follow Vroom's Expectancy theory of
motivation and Locke's goal setting theory within the selected company. It can be concluded that
advantage and disadvantage of both theories of motivations helps to employees in the firm.
