Explanation for different sources of law used in the English
legal system
English legal system is well defined and organised as it
has evaluated over 100 of years which made it more accurate
and easy to understand and implicate over the society.
Evaluation of legal system is based on some information that is
acquired and analysed in order to ascertained its validity. This
system leads to generation of different sources of law which are
used in the legal system of UK in order to ascertain various
regulations and legislations. Different forms of business
organisations are governed as per business law applicable in the
country so that performance can be ensured to follow legally
guideline. Some of the important sources of UK legal system is
as follows-
Act of Parliament: In UK parliament is the highest
authority for formulating and implementing various laws and
regulations. Act of parliament is formed after detailed analysis
and procedure of passing a bill. This become one of the major
source of law for the country as parliamentary laws are
effectively applicable on the nation.
European Union Law: It is group of countries which
is formed so that various policies and regulations can be
implemented on them together in order to facilitate relationship
at personal and business level. European Union have their own
set of regulations that are applicable on all the member states.
EU laws supersedes laws of UK and become a important
source for formation of business and other law in the country.
Common laws: Rules and regulations that are formed
by the judges of the court while resolving a case are termed as
common laws. Common laws once made become applicable on
all the other cases that are filled after formation of such laws.
These laws helps in defining duties and responsibilities of
general public. For example- it is the duty to read every
document before signing it to provide validity.
