Law is defined as the principal that all the people and
related institutions required to be followed in order to make
each related individual and business to follow legal set of rules.
Application of law make each and every individual binding to
follow set regulations on which these rules are applicable. The
booklet consist detailed information regarding different sources
of law on the basis of which legal system of UK is defined.
Role of government of the country in application of laws with
critical evaluation of the legal system of UK is mentioned in
this booklet.

TASK 1
Explanation for different sources of law used in the English
legal system
English legal system is well defined and organised as it
has evaluated over 100 of years which made it more accurate
and easy to understand and implicate over the society.
Evaluation of legal system is based on some information that is
acquired and analysed in order to ascertained its validity. This
system leads to generation of different sources of law which are
used in the legal system of UK in order to ascertain various
regulations and legislations. Different forms of business
organisations are governed as per business law applicable in the
country so that performance can be ensured to follow legally
guideline. Some of the important sources of UK legal system is
as follows-
Act of Parliament: In UK parliament is the highest
authority for formulating and implementing various laws and
regulations. Act of parliament is formed after detailed analysis
and procedure of passing a bill. This become one of the major
source of law for the country as parliamentary laws are
effectively applicable on the nation.
European Union Law: It is group of countries which
is formed so that various policies and regulations can be
implemented on them together in order to facilitate relationship
at personal and business level. European Union have their own
set of regulations that are applicable on all the member states.
EU laws supersedes laws of UK and become a important
source for formation of business and other law in the country.
Common laws: Rules and regulations that are formed
by the judges of the court while resolving a case are termed as
common laws. Common laws once made become applicable on
all the other cases that are filled after formation of such laws.
These laws helps in defining duties and responsibilities of
general public. For example- it is the duty to read every
document before signing it to provide validity.

International Treaties: Government of UK entered into some
specific treaties so that a smooth operations can be maintained
while dealing with other nations. These treaties served as a
source in the business law when business is operated at
international level with certain countries.
Role of Government in Law making process
Government of UK plays important role in the process of
formulation of legal system in the country. As Parliament is
considered to be the highest authority for passing various rules
and regulations in the country but drafting of the law is
performed by the government. As government their its different
department deals with the general public and various situations
are more informative. On the basis of analysis made over the
years for a particular issue or to evolve legal system
government of UK form a bill which specifies all the
information about the law. Requirement, implication process
and desired results all are mentioned in the bill. For example-
European work permit act, new drown law is passed and every
business organization needs to take this permission to work in
Europe.
In order to pass such law bill is presented to both the houses of
parliament. A bill can be presented to any house for the first and
after receiving majority acceptance its is sent to other house.
When bill is passed to House of Commons First reading is
made to the bill to understand the bill and its requirement. A
appropriate title must be given to the bill before presenting it to
the parliament.

Successful completion of the first meeting bill is presented for
the second reading where all the members made general
discussion on the issue. When bill passed thorough second
reading then it reaches to the Committee stage where each and
every point is evaluated. At last reporting stage is achieved
where concentration on issues that may arise in future is
provided. After passing the bill form house of common it is
transferred to the house of lords. All the stages of house of
common are repeated in house of lords. A bill when accepted by
both the houses will become law in the country only when royal
consent to the bill is received.
Effectiveness of the legal system in terms of recent reforms
Economical or political reforms in the country leads to
generate a positive or negative effect on the legal system of the
country. In the recent times BREXIT is one of the most
influencing reform that takes place in the country. Through this
all the business and economy of the country gets affected in
negative manner. Legal system of UK is reformed and
businesses are provided with regulations which made operations
easy and implication of legal system id minimized. This is done
to achieve stability in economy through business.

Critical evaluation of the legal system and law
UK possess one of the well established legal system
which is evaluated time to time so that all the laws can become
up to date and effective. In consideration to other economies
UK possess a well established and developed and legal system
made effective contribution in this consideration. For example-
Due to BREXIT when economy started moving downward in
that case government regulations made all the efforts so that
negative effect can be managed by some specific amendments
in the law.
CONCLUSION
From the above project report it has been concluded that
English legal system is effective and well established. Legal
system of the country is evaluated over the years and laws are
established on the basis of different sources in the country.
Government plays important role in establishing legal system as
all the activities that helps in formulation of law is performed by
government.
