CE 1.2.5 My responsibilities throughout the project
I had some of the major responsibilities in this project. I contacted the main police
office to take the booklet of terms and conditions. I even determined the types of cameras
required by location and geographical nature. I was also responsible for the determination of
DVR record system. I cooperated with our technical office for preparing the layout. My next
responsibility was to submit the proposed system and layouts to the police office for review
and initial approval. Proper follow ups to the police office were another duty to receive the
initial approval. I also found out the best suppliers and contractors in this field within the
local market for perfect quotations. The best suppliers were filtered by me and the
comparative sheets between all suppliers including the type of components and manufacture
were prepared by me. I even checked for the cost and delivery time as well as installation of
the system. During this period I studied the possibility of implementing the installation by
myself with a team from the company. I also calculated the working hours required to install

Figure 2: Components of CCTV System
I noticed that a major input to this designing as well as specification of the outdoor
system of CCTV layout is dependent on the analysis or collection of the aerial photographs
taken. All of these images could be obtained from the wider diversity of sources like the
services of aerial photography, satellite photographs, and the applications for hosting of the
free web based mapping.
The video system overview of our system had the transmission and receiving speed of
H.264 and MPEG 4 video and bidirectional audio. The real time recording was done at the
speed of 25fps with almost no frame loss and the video streaming was done at the rate from
32 to 4096 kbps. Moreover, our camera provided about 704X576 (PAL) active pixels at the
rate of 25 fps. The colour resolution was 540 TV Lines for sharp pick up of live video. Each
camera had the video at 720P HD and 25 frames to view these videos during live recording.
The hard disk was of 1 SATA interface and the capacity of our camera was up to 6 TB for
every disk. We kept the working temperature between -10 C to 65 C and hence were able to
record in almost every climate. The angle of view was within 80 to 27.2 degree and it was
internally synchronized.

I considered the camera location, lighting strategies and the selection of camera
together for designing this CCTV system to eventually ensure the optimum performance and
even to prevent the conflicts of operational environment. The interior cameras required the
internal software for the purpose of compensating the backlight that is the perfect contrast
within the levels of low interior light as well as the higher exterior levels of daytime light. I
made sure that the selection of the suitable media of video transmission, like the UTP or
unshielded twisted pair and coaxial cable. This was one of the most vital aspects to design the
quality of our CCTV system.
This project of CCTV system comprised of several cameras or monitors for recording
the devices. Our result was achieved successfully. Our system was run despite of several
difficulties within 45 days. We completed our project in shorter period of time by saving 35%
of the project value. I have gained more experience in the ELV field and even gained
recognition of the company management.
CE 1.3.4 Identified issues and their solutions
1.3.4.1 Issues
There were some of the major issues related to this project that I have faced. The first
and the foremost issue that I have faced here was the LED indicators within the camera.
These indicators were responsible for the successful transmission of data across the network.
These are kept hidden within the camera. However, the LEDs in our project were not lighting
up properly. The next issue or problem that I had faced here was while extracting the data of
the camera. The factory reset made it extremely difficult to restore the data and hence we
were losing our data. Moreover, after every 20 seconds, our camera was getting rebooted and
we had to input our settings once again. The next significant issue of this project t was the
incomplete coverage. We had a made an estimate of the coverage area of our system.

However, our coverage was not completed and we had to face a lot of difficulties in solving
this particular issue.
1.3.4.2 Solutions
I suggested some of the most relevant and significant solutions to these problems that
we have faced in the project of Design and Installation of Closed Circuit Television Camera
System. For the first issue of LED indicators, I provided the suggestion to check whether the
camera is being powered externally or not. After checking, I noted that it was not powered
externally and hence the issue was arriving. This camera was powered through electricity and
not battery and thus proper wattage was checked. For the next significant issue of factory
reset, I provided the suggestion to change our factory reset and thus after every 20 seconds,
our data was not lost and it was restored. The final issue was incomplete coverage. I
suggested that we should keep a security monitor with more number of alarms and cameras.
This eventually solved our problem.
