“Health effect on usage of Cell Phone”
Abstract
It has been seen that in the present scenario the usage of the cell phones has enhanced.
Individuals are using cell phones and it has been analyzed that it is giving effect on the health of
the individual. In the present scenario, there are ninety-one percent of the adults in America and
60 percent of the teenagers who have revolutionized communication through mobile phones by
focusing on the 21 century (Theodore Rappaport and Christopher 5). There are various effects of
mobile phones which are analyzed and the discussion will be made on this context. It has been
analyzed that cell phones offer a proper and simple way to communicate with the friends, family
and also with the coworkers.
With the excessive usage, it is seen that it is giving effect on the health of the individuals.
Through mobile phones, the radio waves are transmitted by a series of the base stations where it
can be analyzed that radio frequency waves are electromagnetic fields that are not breakable by
the chemical bonds or by any ionization in the human body. In the first phase of the paper, the
discussion will be made on the negative effect of the mobile phone on the individuals. In this, it
is seen that there are various issues that take place like stress level increases, illness in the
immune system and eye vision problem. In the last phase of the report which is concluding part,
there are effective ways discussed that should be considered by the people so that negative effect
can be reduced in a proper manner. So, in this paper, the focus will be given to the usage of
cellphones that affect the health of the people.

Introduction
In the present scenario, it has been analyzed that there are the majority of the individuals
who are using the cell phones. With the use of the cell phone, the negative effect is also seen in
the individuals who are spending more time on the mobile phones. According to federal
communication commission, it has been stated that cell phone users should keep 20 centimeters
of distance from their handset to minimize the radiation exposure. There are many children and
young people who are suffering from long-term effects of radiation waves on the brain. It has
been seen that in 2011 there are almost five billion mobile phone users who are affected by the
use of mobile phones (Wu, Rappaport, and Christopher Collins 66). It has been seen that young
children should be more careful. It is important for the individuals to focus on their health and
the safety by focusing on reducing the negative effects. So, in this paper, the effect on the cell
phone on the health of the individual will be explained. As it has been seen that there are
various negative effects so in this paper the focus will be given to the negative effect which takes
place because of the use of mobile phones.
Current status of the knowledge
According to the morning side recovery rehabilitation center, it has been evaluated that
the Average American spends almost 144 minutes a day by using the cellphones for chatting and
attending phone calls. With an estimated six billion subscriptions globally it has been analyzed
that cell phones are considered as one of the important means of communication in the society
(Katz, Raul, Felix, and Gubernick 867). Almost every citizen is using mobile phones in the
recent situation.
So, in this context, there are many negative impacts which are evaluated on the health of
the individuals. The negative effects that are analyzed are many. It has been seen that one of the
negative effects is related to the increase in the stress level. The use of cellphones has negative
effects on the stress level of the individuals. The continuous ringing of the cellphones and also
vibration is impacting the health of the individuals. It has also been evaluated that there is a
direct connection between the psychology of the individuals and it is affecting the mental health
of the people. Many researchers found that the extreme use of mobile phones can enhance the
stress and also affect the sleep of the people. When individuals use mobile phones then it can
cause depression (Demirci, Kadir, Akgönül, and Akpinar 86). So, by using the cellphones for a

long time can be a risk factor for the mental health problems of the young people. To minimize
the issue related to the mental problem it is important to focus on using the cellphones in a
proper way so that negative effect cannot be seen in the individual.
Next is related to the increased risk of illness in the immune system. It has been
evaluated that when the individuals touch the cell phone it can generate the harbor germs on the
handset. The greasy and oily residue that is seen on the cell phone can cause a serious disease as
it is the prone germs that are found on the toilet seas. According to the study which is conducted
by the London School of hygiene and tropical medicine it has been analyzed that germs can be
transferable from one to the other person.
One of the major risks is related to the increased risk of the chronic pain. It has been
analyzed that cell phones need a constant use of the hands, at the time of sending the text
messages and also emails. At the time of responding through messages in a speed can cause a
severe pain and also it can cause inflammation in the joints (Hall, Cole-Lewis, and Bernhardt
396). With the use of mobile phones, it has been seen that back pain is also one of the common
issues that are evaluated. This problem takes place mostly when the cellphones are held between
the neck and the shoulder as multitasks. Long usage of the cellphones can also cause the pain in
the neck and also it can create a problem in the backbone of the individual. So, it is important for
the individuals to focus on handling the handset in a proper manner so that negative effect cannot
be analyzed on the health and it can also make the individual posture correct.
Increase in the risk of eye vision problem is also one of the health issues that have been
evaluated. When the individual stare at the mobile phone or the cell phones it causes a problem
in their vision. Screens on the cell phones are smaller if the comparison is made with the
computer screens. Therefore, it has been analyzed that the focus has to be given more and to read
messages the eyes are strained. It has also been analyzed that there is more than more than 70
percent of the people who are suffering from the issue of eye vision (Zetterberg 20). There are
many people who use cell phones by switching off the room lights so it has been analyzed that it
gives a negative effect on the health and also causes a severe headache due to the use of mobile
phones. There are also the severe diseases that are taking place in an individual like brain tumors
with the use of the mobile phones. It is analyzed that the negative impact is seen on the mindset

of individuals. It is important for the people to focus on reducing the usage of the cellphones so
that a healthy life can be lived by the people of the society.
Conclusion
Therefore, by analyzing the paper it has been concluded that it is important for the people
to reduce the usage of the mobile phones as it is giving a negative effect on the health of the
individuals. It is important for the individuals to focus on minimizing the usage of the cellphones
when the signal is weak as it is seen that the maximum amount of radiations are evaluated when
there are weak signals. This is also because the phone tries to connect to the signals which are
nearby. Next step that should be taken by the individuals is related to the carrying of the phone
on the body. The individuals should not carry the powered cellphones in their pocket as radiation
or vibration can affect the body in the negative. These are the steps that should be considered so
that negative effect of the mobile phones can be reduced. If these steps are taken into
consideration then it can be seen that issues like stress and also the diseases which take place due
to this can be reduced. Therefore, the individuals should focus on these ways to reduce adverse
effects.
