CHALLENGES IN KNOWLEDGEENGINEERING FOR HEALTHCAREXXX-X-XXXX-XXXX-X/XX/$XX.00 ©20XX IEEE
Abstract— Knowledge engineering has impacted thehealthcare in profound manner by incorporating thetechnological advancements with bringing changes to promoteresearch. This is integral to facilitate transmission ofinformation to bridge the gaps between research studies andthe healthcare models and principles for managing the clinicalcare for patients. Furthermore, this has identified thebidirectional flow between the challenging concepts and themapping required to bring the qualitative outcomes. It focusedon the maintenance of delivery and quality of healthcareservices. Herein, the main concepts in context to the existingchallenges have been described to understand the mapping andadopt a strategic planning to overcome the obstacles. This isuseful in enabling the healthcare services in more enhancedand futuristic approach to ease out the patients' outlooks.Keywords— Knowledge engineering, Knowledge engineeringin health informatics, Knowledge engineering in healthcare,Clinical decision support in health care, Expert system inhealthcare, Knowledge base, Chronic disease managementI.INTRODUCTIONKnowledge engineering is the new multi disciplinaryapproach that is implemented in the health and social caresector via using artificial intelligence systems. This focuseson creating computer programs and set of instructions toprovide the real time rules and mechanisms for overcomingthe challenges mentioned in the chronic diseasemanagement (CDM). This helps in analysis of examiningthe health patterns and outcomes to complete the deliveryand quality of services for better treatment plans for diseaseslike diabetes, Alzheimer etc. The present report is going tohighlight the features of literature review to demonstrate thehealth informatics and expert healthcare system.Additionally, there is usage of specific articles related tochronic disease management such as diabetes, cancer, heartdisease etc. for emphasizing on the contribution of thisknowledge based engineering idea. Furthermore, this reportwill also include an analysis of various challenges in thefield of medical for both professionals and service users aswell. This will shed light on the relevant and usefulinformation to give special attention on the advantages anddisadvantages of the chosen topic.II.RESEARCH METHODOLOGYIt includes the following procedures to analyse theinformation about the topic.A.Research approachThis is the proper planning and procedure of consistingthe steps of broad assumption to detailed methods of datacollection and analysis as well. So this will be based onresearch problem that is been addressed. There are 2 type ofapproach which could be used by researcher according totheir topic like that of qualitative and quantitative one. Forthe current research qualitative approach is chosen whichwill help in finding out the challenges in knowledgeengineering for healthcare.B.Research philosophyThis is set of beliefs and ideas of gathering informationwhich will latter on be analysed and used by researcher. Forthis present research interpretivism will be used which willforming part of qualitative methodology. Both trained andhuman subject based on research is been conducted so thiswill be helpful in measuring some interviews or datacollected from other parts.C.Research designThis will be showing up condition or collection of data andother important materials which must be used withinresearch. For this particular research which is based onidentifying challenges in knowledge engineering forhealthcare descriptive research design is to be used. Thiswill help in understanding the topic in much deeper andclear sense so that descriptive design could help into findingout details.D.Research methodThe researcher will be using qualitative type of researchmethod into which they will be considering challenges inknowledge engineering for healthcare and gaining in depthknowledge for the same. This type of method is best suitedfor this type of research which is following or having moreunderstanding and details regarding to topic. The qualitativeresearch method will be very much helpful for finding out allchallenges which is faced by health care sector whileknowledge engineering.E.Data collectionThis is very much important for any research as will beextracting information from various sources like includingboth primary and secondary as well. So for this researchsecondary source of data collection is taken which will helpinto achieving the objective and aim for research. This typeof source include materials taken from articles, journals andliterary sources which is having more information relatedwith topic but all will be from 2009-2019 only.F.Data collectionThis is very much important for any research as will beextracting information from various sources like includingboth primary and secondary as well. So for this researchsecondary source of data collection is taken which will helpinto achieving the objective and aim for research. G.Data analysisThis is also another type of important part which will helpinto achieving the aim and objective of challenges inknowledge engineering for health care. Data will beanalyzed using qualitative method under which themes willbe made and then data will be analyzed.H.Ethical considerationThis includes that all data collected and analysed must becritically used into the research. Ethics are those norms orstandards for conducting distinguish between rights andwrong in determining the difference between acceptable andunacceptable behaviours. There are many types of ethical
