AI Summary
This assignment presents a case study analysis focusing on change and innovation management within organizations. It examines three cases: the dismissal of a night shift due to machine breakdowns, an entrepreneur's journey in the UK market, and the introduction of a new recipe based on changing consumer tastes. The analysis emphasizes the importance of leadership attributes, employee communication, and the implementation of models like Transformational Servant Leadership and Florida's 3'T model. It further highlights the role of risk assessment, optimism, and self-confidence in driving innovation and adapting to market demands. The case studies provide insights into how organizations and individuals can navigate change, foster innovation, and achieve positive results in dynamic business environments.

Week 6 Case Study
The case study The Hegemonic Power of Management and the Sacking of the Night
Shift: Power-coercive Strategies or Machiavellian Management? has helped me in identifying
the different issues that are associated with the dismissal of the night shift due to the manner in
which the constant machine breakdowns and repairs have affected the smooth functioning of the
businesses. The management of the organizations and the changes that are planned by the same
is based on the proper identification of the leadership attributes, which will be helping the
organizations to bring in changes in the systems of the business (García-Morales, Jiménez-
Barrionuevo and Gutiérrez-Gutiérrez 2012). I believe that the management of the organizations
should have undertaken an interaction with the employees. The communication with the
employees would have helped the management of the organization to facilitate changes in the
systems of the business without compromising the job role of the people through the dismissal of
the night shifts.
The identification of the needs of the organization is facilitated through brainstorming the
different strategies in the functioning of the business. The strategies help in maintaining the
progression of the business without compromising the job roles of the people working in the
organization. I believe that the implementation of the Transformational servant leadership
could have brought about changes in the systems of the business through ensuring the
involvement of the workforce in the business operations (Dumdum, Lowe and Avolio 2013). It
would have helped the businesses to identify the issues that were faced by the employees and
thereby bring in changes in the systems.

Week 7 Case Study
The case Elephant and flea: on becoming an entrepreneurial nomad portrays the
continuous efforts that were undertaken by Preneur while bringing in improvements in the line of
products in the UK market. The continuous efforts that was casted by Preneur has helped the
entrepreneur in bringing in changes in the product lines through continuous innovation and the
modifications in the skills. It has helped the products in gaining their sustenance in the UK
markets. The integration of technology with the human workforce has helped in bringing in
modifications in the systems that were undertaken by Preneur.
The key elements of the change in the change in the innovative strategies is supported
through the thorough understanding of the 3’T model of Florida, which emphasized on the
creativity that enhances productivity. The continuous improvements in the processes are based
on the delineation of the talent and the manner in which it is applied to the structure, which helps
in the smooth functioning of the processes of the business in the market (Paas and Halapuu
2012). I believe that the 3’T model of Florida will be helping to mingle talent with technology as
it will be helping the organizations to bring in continuous changes in the market functions.
Handy (2008) stated in his book The elephant and the flea that the full time employment that
is offered by the organizations (Elephants) helps in enhancing the skills of the employees and
thereby brush up their talents (Handy 2008). The proper functioning of the employees is
dependent on the identification of the technological progression and the adaptability of the
personnel to apply talent to bring in continuous innovation in the processes.

Week 8 Case Study
The case “An Appetite for Creativity” depicts the journey of Roger McKechnie as he
encountered problems while undertaking steps to introduce a new recipe depending on the
change of tastes of the consumers. The continuous assessment of risk and the optimism of the
person have helped the same in bringing forth positive results in the business. McKechnie
introduced a recipe named tortilla chips, which was not accepted by some 90% of the customers.
However, McKechnie focused on the left 10% and developed the product through continuous
innovations in the tastes. It has helped the entrepreneur to bring in positive result in the structure
and the functioning of the business as per the identification of the demand of the customers. I
believe that the risk that is undertaken by the entrepreneur has helped in bringing forth
innovation in the systems of the business in the market. On the other hand, the identification of
the different risks and the manner in which they can be mitigated has helped the entrepreneur to
bring in changes in the systems of the business in the market (Dawson and Andriopoulos 2014).
The self confidence of McKechnie has helped to bring in changes in the systems and the
functioning of the business in the market.
