INTRODUCTION Change management is the process of converting old functions and activities in new methods for the purpose of developing organizational performance. This is a collective term for all approaches, support, and help individuals, team and company to make right changes. This is important for each organization to analysis the environment and comes to know what is happening around which can help to develop the organizational performance and productivity. If an employer is having effective planning or strategy then considered as opportunity to grow a business and attain higher productivity (Whysall, Owtram and Brittain, 2019). To understand about change managementLPHY, a local charity, has been chosen to support the best Hospice care practises for local residents. Such organisations' management understands their clients' needs and provides services that might aid to increase business productivity. The management of such an organisation plays a vital role in implementing changes that can aid in the achievement of business objectives.The services which are providing by organization are Hospice at Home and Day Hospice, as well as a Listening Service for the recently bereaved. The managers understand the requirement and bring changes that can help to accomplish the business goals. The report covers strategic change that could apply by LPHY, use of change management model, and potential for organizational and individual resistance of the proposed change plan. MAIN BODY About organization LPHY is a local charity that aims to support the best hospice care for local people. This has been operated its business by giving gift of at least £1m per year to an NHS Hospice, enabling the provision of additional services such as Hospice at Home and Day Hospice, as well as a Listening Service for the recently bereaved. The charity organization is having plans to double the number of shops (currently 9 plus online) and increase fund raising by £2m so that additional community services can be funded. This could be done by preparing a team involving skilled and talented people. This has created values in professionalism, community, team, and agility. In this organization approx. 50 people is working collectively and 400 volunteers who works in the hospice, retail shops, head office and fundraising. It has seen that employees are not working well as they are not ready to accept the changes or wants to work with traditional method that affects the organizational productivity and profitability. The high staff ratio involves
1 full time manager and 1 part time assistant manager per shop that has given lower profit margin. The estate is split into 2 shops the large furniture showroom and online team who are managed as one unit. Due to working method, shop managers works only 1 day a week with their direct reports. It has seen that there is conflicts between team members due to which to accept changes becoming more difficult and it has affected the organizational productivity and profitability (Sandars, and et.al., 2020). Identification and rationalises a strategic change that LPHY can take Strategic management is the effective term used by individuals to bring the changes and help them to boost their morale in business environment. This is important for each organization to understand what people wants and how they could be satisfied so that kind of products and services are provided to customers and supports to develop the business productivity. This is important for each organization to understand what is happening around and how their customers will be influenced for the purpose of managing changes and accomplish the business goals (Mathar, and Gaur, 2020). The LPHY faced the problem of lower profit margin due to working with traditional method and occurrence of pandemic. By analysing the office environment it became important to introduce the changes and bring out new strategies which could be follow to operate the business regularly. There are different planning and strategies could be used by LPHY to introduce the changes such as: To bring incremental and transformational change –Changes are necessary for all business organization as it helps to introduce the different working method and changes at the workplace for the purpose of running business. In relation to LPHY, management requires to introduce the incremental and transformational changes in their charity shop by expanding their business which can help to develop the business performance (Atkinson, 2021). Restructuring and Innovation–Innovation isthe mix up of strategy, processes, technology, organization, and culture which are followed by business concern to change their existing process in to new one for the purpose of influencing number of people at the workplace. In relation to LPHY, restructure and innovation is introduced by management by using internet within covid period that can help to raise funding without any personal contacts. This could help to increase the business performance and productivity. In relation to LPHY, management understand the changing environment and manage people at different workplace by introducing changes and providing skills to people as it w3ill help to run charity shops clearly and increase the performance. Change management model are defined as concepts, theories, and methodology that uses to get depth approach to organizational change. This is important for each organization to understand importance of change for particular point and manage the higher performance. The Human resource management plays an important role they conduct analysis to know the vacant position. Different types of legislation and policies are followed by management for the purpose of growing business in changing environment. In context to LPHY, different issues faced by management such as employee turnover, lower productivity, and lower employee morale due to whichsalesandproductivityoforganizationhasbeenaffectednegatively.Thecharity organization wants to expand their business by increasing shops and providing online services that supports to manage the all functions and activities. To manage the changes and applying strategies Lewin's change model has been applied by organization that are as explained below: Kurt Lewin change model –This could be explained as change model developed by Kurt Lewin for the purpose of understanding problems and solve it by introducing changes. This is important for each organization to analysis the environment and introduce the kind of services which can help to accomplish the business goals. This models entails the changes, and creating perception according to different people which supports to introduce the changes and maintain
higher performance. LPHY faced the many issues while running their business where it need to follow the planned changes such as: Unfreezing –This stage is used by individuals which usually motivating event to create a need for change to occur like as falling profits, and employee dissatisfaction which affected the business negatively. This is important for each organization to identify the issues which occurs at the workplace and suggest different ideas and thoughts for the purpose of introducing changes and managing all business activities and functions. This stage is used to create an awareness of how the organization has been operating. In relation to LPHY, management is having major role and they analysis the environment to know need for change. This can help to operate the business regularly by thinking more and introducing changes (Kittelman, 2020). Changing –This stage is used to introduce changes after recognising the need for adjustments since it provides different ideas and ways of working that can help to influence a large number of individuals and encourage increased performance. This is important for each organization to introduce the changes by managing all functions as it bring innovation and skilled people to work continuously. In relation to LPHY, management could introduce the changes and recruit skilled employees at the charity workplace which can help to operate a business in changing environment. The leaders and management share all information and ideas with their staff so that right decision could be taken properly. Refreezing –This stage is used to implementation of changes which has been decided in above section and supports to develop the business performance. In this organization observed that chances are important and it used to improve the business productivity. In context to LPHY, management will recruit the skilled people for full time and make the use of digital payment whichcanhelpstoincreaseorganizationalperformance.Thissupportstoimprovethe organization performance as management provide training and development program to their staff who get ready to work continuously and supports to accomplish the business goals (Tang, 2019). Addresses the potential for organisational and individual resistance of the proposed change plan. To became successful in establishing a business there is need to focus over individual as well as organizational changes which could help to develop the business productivity and profitability. It has seen that if people or individual interpret an implementing to change as a
threat to themselves or business industry is known as resistance to change. This could be challengingforbusinessorganizationtooperateandregulatetheirbusinessinchanging environment. In relation to LPHY, reasons of resistance to change are as explained below: Lack of communication –This is major issue in which no clear or direct communication occurs between employer and employees that creates resistance to change at the workplace. IN LPHY, some of the staff fails to accept new changes within covid-19 period as resulting lack of organizational performance (Ali, and Anwar, 2021). Lack of skilled employees –Employees are important to business industry as they understand the goals and give their contribution to accomplish them. In context toLPHY, employees are not enough skilled that has created the challenge to operate a business in changing environment and it affected the organizational productivity. Lack of motivation –Motivation is the activity which used by management for the purpose of motivating their employees by offering different benefits that can help to run business. Due to lack of motivation within LPHY could be challenging to accept the new changesfordevelopingtheircharitybusiness.Thus,itaffectsbusinessproductivityand performance negatively. Different ways which could be used by LPHY to managing resistance to change Communicate regularly and clearly –Frequent and clear communication is defined as main task for each individual and group of people as it influence the number of people and supports to organise the activities effectively. In relation to LPHY, management and leader is having major role as they share all business details and give contribution to accomplish the business goals (Som, Chan, and Dumitrascu, 2020). To provide training and use of new technology– The organization needs to walk with changing trend and environment by getting ready to their staff to work effectively. This is important for business industry to analysis the environment and provide training to their staff which could help to get ready to accept change and develop business performance.
