Data Analysis
Tables and Summary Statistics
The sample was collected from a total of 150 employees in Hong Leong Assurance
Company (HLA) in Georgetown, Penang, out of which 72 were female and rest were male
employees. The organization was noted to have employees from every age group with 24.7%
employees aged above 51 years, 21.3% aged within 21 and 30 years, and the least
representation of 17.3% was from employees aged between 41 and 50 years. The sample
consisted of 38.7% unit managers, 32% agents, and 29.3% sales manager. Interestingly, 42%
employees were noted to be new with 1 to 5 years of experience in the HLA. Only, 11.3%
employees were noted to be working with HLA for 21 years or more. Education level
exploration revealed that 42% of the employees had secondary level education, followed by
18.7% bachelors, 18% diploma holders, 14.7% Ph.D., and 6.7% mater degree holder
employees.
Reliability was tested individually for each of the independent variables. The
components of “work satisfaction”, work-life balance, career development opportunities,
working environment, and leadership each had Cronbach ' s α=0. 97 that indicated very
high internal consistency (Peterson, and Kim, 2013, p.194).
One way independent ANOVA and t-test have been used to evaluate the possible
existence of difference in work satisfaction based on gender, age group, working position,
years of experience in HLA, and level of education (Kim, T.K., 2017, p.22). No significant
evidence ( t=1. 20 , p=0 . 23 ) was found for any difference between “work satisfaction” of
male ( M =2 .70 , SD=1. 35 ) and female ( M =2 . 45 , SD=1 . 23 ) employees.

Overall comparison of average “work satisfaction” based on age groups indicated
significant difference for at least one age group ( F=3 .01 , p <0 . 05 ) , but unexpectedly no
pairwise significant difference was noted. Average “work satisfaction” of agents
( M =2 .70 , SD=1. 15 ) , unit managers ( M =2 . 44 , SD=1. 37 ) , and sales managers
