Assessment 1
1. This assessment activity is designed to assess your skills and knowledge in gathering and
documenting information about children.
a. Explain why we gather detailed information about children and their families?
Prior to and at the time of evaluation as well as assessment, individualized data is collected with
families related to the way how a child takes part in everyday procedures in several different
settings. Family members hold their own viewpoints regarding significant contribution for a
child in community and home activities, grounded upon their family culture, traditions and
values. Service practioners and providers could prompt family members at the time of planning
conversations.
b. The NQF and EYLF provide the foundation for collecting data. Research and provide 3
examples

The National Quality Framework (NQF) offers a national approach for regulating, assessing and
quality enhancement for early childhood learning and education along with care and outside

The EYLF is basically a guide that includes Principles, Practices as well as 5 key Learning
Outcomes together with their sub results, grounded upon identity, community, comfort,
learning and lastly, communicating.
c. When seeking permission from parents/families to take photographs and gather
information about their child what guides you in obtaining the permission?
Notifying parents/guardians as to who would actually be permitted for taking photographs/videos,
where these would be exactly taken and the way they would be utilized (Trawick-Smith, 2013). At
the time of enrolment a permission slip is finished for ensuring management and employees are
