Question 1 Chiefinformationofficer(CIO)inorganizationsaretaskedwithsecuringIT infrastructure to make sure data remains secure and free from intrusion by external entities (Wong 2015, pp. 409). Being a passionate potential data security expert makes my career goals inclined to become resourceful Chief Information officer (CIO) to help organizations secure their operational data. Considering data security breaches have been rising and changing over time due to the adoption of modern technologies, I feel motivated in getting necessary skills that would make it possible to achieve my career dream. Having taken several courses related to data and information system security makes it possible to steer my career to the next level. Besides, I have invested much of my free time on personal training and practices such as ethical hacking and network prevention techniques. Important to note is that I have been able to get some good mentors in the industry who are willing and ready to help in developing career prospects. I concur with my friends that achieving such an honored title and securing the position (CIO) in an organization requires a high level of expertise, dedication and it is a gradual process. Irrespective of the challenges, the dream of becoming a notable CIO remains valid and would come true. Question 2 First, according to Ahmed, Sharif & Ahmad (2017, pp. 5-6), skills are acquired and natured through practice in the real world scenarios. Having secured an ethical hacking course and set up my own data security simulation environment offer an opportunity to be fully equipped with the required industrial skills. These skills are quite essential and would be useful in steering my career dream to industrial practices. From the discussion with my colleagues, it has been observed that personal efforts and taking part in industrial practices can help young professionals develop their career goals. Both of my colleagues have had a chance to practice
with local firms as interns while building their career. Though all of us have divergent career goals, there was a general understanding that career development through a continuous learning process and industrial practices should remain a key factor in young IT professionals’. The only difference was on having a personal training and simulation environment citing issues of untrustworthy since it can lead to unethical practices.
