INTRODUCTION
Child rearing practice refers to practices involved in parenting ways of upbringing and
raising their children from birth through adulthood. This is an innate process which comprises
processes of nurturing, protecting, guiding, and rearing of children through their developmental
stages. This process up raising children promotes and aids physical, emotional, social,and
intelligence development from infancy to adulthood. Back in the 70s, most of the parents of
Maldives were on the 'free range' array where they did not know where their children are after
they had their breakfast. Parenting in children today is much different than it was back in 70s.
When kids were being raised in 70s, there was no such practice of designated parenting style.
With this information, there were no parenting style that were following to bring up their
children (Amponsah and et. al., 2018). They did not analyse, prescribe, and define each and
every inclination with effective life living and maintaining good living practices. In this report,
issuances related to parenting will be discussed by interviewing different parents and learning
their opinions about parenting.

Which standards of behaviour are important to you?
In 70s, parents were not designated In their lifestyles so therefore children's upbringing were
affected. Parents used to let their children out to play and socialise themselves in their society or
community. Children were taught and treated with guidance to self training to habits related with
eating, sleeping, communicating to other people. The children were given freedom to learn
things that would foster their upbringing and bring responsibilities related to their lifestyles.
They were respectful towards people around them. They were honest, and maintained their
discipline wherever they were at. On the contrary, nowadays children are more advanced and
they most of the time don't listen to their parents. There are many factors which hinders the
upbringing of children (Dalikeni, 2021). Firstly, children are very intelligent they tend to learn
things quickly and they are not sometimes honest to their parents. They don't treat their siblings,
parents and their relatives rights.

they do activities accordingly and this brings forth their positive qualities among their
surrounding. Mother plays an important role in raising child as mother is always there to support

they are little sceptical about their children's growth within the society as this brings forth more

relationships in families is an essential part as relationship among family members affects
