a. A Brief Summary of the Activity/Task
Being a childhood educator is a challenging and a dynamic career, considering its numerous
obligations, which have to be executed professionally. Therefore, there are activities/tasks that
should be maintained and developed to enhance the relationship between educators and parents
in the learning centers. When undertaking these activities, educators need to observe the legal
and ethical considerations, evaluate positive consumer values and embrace expert standards.
These activities/tasks include:
Activity/Task 1: Maintaining Services with the Public
This activity is a defining feature of a childcare professional who has a spirit of serving the
public interest of the people. Professions and public servants need to embrace the responsibility
for children welfare, education, safety and health.
Activity/Task 2: Being responsive to the Public and the Government
Childcare professionals need to deliver the same professional level when attending to the
children in the center. Likewise, the educators should adhere to all the government legal and
ethical rules despite the government’ political influence.
Activity/Task 3: Accountability
Childcare professionals should be accountable for the entire learning programs delivered in the
facility. All the programs have to be administered impartially and effectively, while maintaining
a clear record of the decision reasons.

Code of Practice: Professions are required to adhere to the ACT codes of conduct and public
services ethics. This requirement outlines all the fundamental standards that cover the staff’s
behavior and the manner in which childcare worker deal with the public.
Legal and Ethical Requirement for Activity/Task 2
Code of Practice: The fundamental obligation of the ACT public service is dedicated to the
society by serving the federal and state government in existence.
Legal and Ethical Requirement for Activity/Task 3
Code of Practice: Childcare professionals should embrace their accountability to the heads of
authorities on behalf of the chief executive. It is crucial for an educator to uphold and adhere to
the relevant laws set by the government.

With the Legal and Ethical Requirements

To complete activity/Task 1, it is relevant to service the public interests by:
 Developing relevant skills and care competencies
 Serving the children in a way that enhances their confidence and public integrity
 Forming a learning program that considers diverse cultural, social and fundamentals of
learning necessities

To complete activity/Task 2, it is necessary to be responsive to the needs of the public and the
government by:
 Exercising adherence to government laws and democratic systems
 Aiming at implementing high-quality learning programs
