 To equip student nurses with skills important to be used in caring patients with
Dementia syndrome and improve to improve their recovery.
 To assess the efficacy of the learning models and styles used in nursing teching
and education.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this class session the students will be expected to/ be able to:
 Identify the common symptoms of dementia
• Explain the cognitive and behaviourism theories
• Classify the different types of learning models
• Assess the quality of life of patients under dementia care.
• Differentiate the HRQoL from QoL.
• Provide quality services to patients under dementia care.
Lesson Content:
• Learning theories provided important content for dementia care.
• Nursing practices requires extensive reviews if peer-reviewed articles.
• Evidenced-based practices involves analysis of various theories proposed by
different scholars (Moon, 2013, p. 30).
• The altered cognitive functionality affects the behaviour and social wellbeing of
the patients
• Focus is made on the learning models and styles applied in the education process.

• behaviourism theory has been applied most in psychological studies (Mann, 2011,
p. 68).
• This theory focuses on the observation of the behaviour of patients for effective
judgments and decision-making.

Assessments:
 HRQoL is a model covers specifically factors that affect health status of the
patients. On the other hand QoL involves the assessment of both health and non-
health issues in the provided literature reviews.
 The assessment of the learning models involves the use of various approaches.
 One of the strategies used in the assessment of HRQoL is interpolation technique.
 The efficacy of HRQoL in determining the quality of life of patient is important.
 Patient safety and satisfaction are evaluated in the assessment process.
 Data is placed in the contextual practice and compared with the information
obtained from Evidence-based practice.
