Clinical governance offers a systematic approach towards improvement and
maintenance of the quality of life in the National Health Service. It is a
framework that is geared towards improving the care quality, level of services
and safeguarding through high care standards thus the need for improving hand
hygiene in the care practice. This enables the flourishing of excellent clinical care
practices (Graves et al., 2016).
Adoption and integration of clinical governance in the care practice are
essential as it supports improvements controlling infection. The focus has been
to ensure that infection control practices are based on evidence ad self-
regulation aspects of adherence. Clinical governance has been recognized as an
integral avenue for offering care of high quality and safe services for the
patients. Clinical governance entrenches dimensions of quality approaches,
culture, avoidance risks, and coherence. Clinical governance has been a
fundamental framework for understanding the underlying operations of infection
control practices. (Halton et al., 2016). Fundamental pillars relevant in this task
entail clinical effectiveness and research and risks management in care practice.
