ABSTRACT: Cloud computing technology is one of the major
emerging technologies which has helps lots of organizations in
data sharing. The technology relies heavily on the shared
computing resources so as to handle the various application
methods. One of the building blocks of cloud computing is that it
relies heavily on the wide area network to maintain applications
and data. As we will find later in the paper, cloud computing plays
a major role in meeting the daily organization objectives. Over the
last five years organization such as Amazon who have
implemented cloud computing have reaped huge benefits. In
addition, cloud computing has opened roads for organizations to
move their information or data to cloud. One of the most suitable
candidates for deployment into the cloud is data management
solutions.
This research paper will present cloud computing
architectures in data management in Attica Restaurant Australia.
The paper is divided into four major parts which are introduction;
where the paper will present an overview of cloud computing and
also give an overview of Attica Restaurant Australia. In addition,
the paper will present research questions and the scope of this
paper in this section. Section will give a detailed literature review
on cloud architectures in data management. The third section will
give a detailed discussion of the research topic together with the
results of the study.

INTRODUCTION
Cloud computing has been trending in the current
21st century with very good reasons. To start with the
technology has offered lots of advantages with easy
accessibility, storage, flexibility, and sharing. Even at our
homes we use cloud technologies to perform lots of our daily
activities. From Spotify, Google docs to Skype all these
services are provided via cloud computing and virtual
networks.
Cloud computing architecture refers to the various
sub-components and components of cloud which constitute
of the whole organization systems. Cloud computing
architecture consists of cloud-based delivery, network
(intranet or internet), back-end platforms like storage and
servers, and front-end platforms which includes mobile
devices, thin client, and fat clients but there are divided tow
broad categories which are back end and front end. As shown
in figure one shows the geographical overview of cloud
computing architecture [1]

As noted from the diagram the front end refers to the client
part of the computing systems and as shown by the diagram
it consists of applications and interfaces which are required
to access the cloud computing platforms such as the web
browser. On the other hand, back-end refers to cloud itself
which consists of the resources which are required to provide
cloud computing. This components comprises of huge data,
virtual machines, servers, deployment models, and security
mechanism.
Scope of the work
Cloud computing is a broader area of study together
with data management. The two topics have lots of subtopics
for research. This research paper only considers those
articles, books, and research papers which addresses cloud
computing architectures in data management with a focus on
its contribution in Attica Restaurant Australia.
Methodology
The paper analyzes several relevant articles and
books published on cloud computing. In addition, this
research paper orchestration is influenced by the suggestion

which was given by two researchers Watson and Webster in
2002. The three types of articles searches which were
conducted and suggested by Watson and Webster. Also since
cloud computing and data management is a new concept and
lots of technological changes have happened in the last 15
years articles and books were considered for review will be
only those from 2000 and are included only if they address
the aspects which are mentioned in the scope section. The
research has also employed agile type methodology
Objectives
This paper revolves around three major objectives which are;
 Monitoring the privacy and security of business data
with database management systems
 How to implement cloud computing technology with
effective specifications
 Visualizing data management of the Attica using
cloud computing technology
Thesis statement
Companies and organizations should add cloud
computing technology as one of must haves because it not
only reduces on cost of operations but it also increases
employees’ productivity.
Research questions
To discuss the thesis statement given above this paper
revolves around three research questions which are;
 What the advantages of implementing cloud
computing technology in an organization?
 What the restrictions of various software which
compliments cloud computing infrastructure
LITERATURE REVIEW
Overview of Attica restaurant
Attica is a one of the fine-dining restaurant located
in Melbourne Australia. The restaurant is operated and
owned by Ben Shewry. It has been included as one of the
world’s fifty best restaurants since 2010. Currently the
restaurant sits as one of the best in Australia. Figure one
below shows some of the issues faced by restaurants when
conducting their services

Overview of cloud computing
Cloud computing is referred to as storing of
information and assessing of data over the wide area
network, widely known as the internet. This means that data
is stored in a remote place and then synchronized with other
web or internet information. One example of cloud
computing is office 365; this allows used to access, edit, and
access their MS word document online without installing the
actual program on their devices. There three storage options
on cloud which are public, private, and hybrid. This is as
shown by the figure three below

Public cloud is a service provider which makes the
clouds available to the general public. The cloud are accessed
via the internet by users. An example of public clouds are
Microsoft and Google. Private are clouds which are dedicated
for certain organizations. This type of cloud is either managed
by the organization itself or by a third party company. Hybrid
type of cloud is where two or more clouds to offer both
private and public clouds. This type of cloud is flexible, cost-
effective, and scalable.
Some of benefits of cloud is that it offers scalability;
de-allocation and allocation of resources is dynamically as per
demand. Second, it saves on cost by reducing the
organization capital structure. Third, by storing data or
information on cloud it is more reliable as it is not easily lots.
Forth cloud enables users to access the cloud applications
independently. Lastly, it simplifies the organization network
and lets the customers access some of the applications
without buying the license for an individual machine [2].

IMPLEMENTAION
Applications of cloud computing
As indicated from the previous sections, so far it is
evident that cloud computing rely on high-end networks. As
indicated by Amazon cloud computing helps in elasticity, cost
reduction, superior flexibility, and optimal resource
allocation. Companies ought to evolve alongside technology
and this includes bars and restaurants. Restaurants can
benefit from cloud computing architectures as it offers lower
IT costs; this is brought about by SaaS. Second, from cloud
customers can pay their bills using the NFC technology by just
waving their card near the organization payment machine.
Example of a restaurant invest in Apple Pay technology which
is found in cloud, customers can wave their smart phone
instead of using a card which makes easier for customers to
spend money in the restaurants. Lastly, restaurants can tap
into huge quantities of data which is both structured as well
as unstructured. This means that an organization can gain the
advantage of business value extraction [3].
The figure below shows how an organization can
implement cloud computing. How the process would start
and how the process would end. In addition, the figure
highlights the project tasks and milestones

DISCUSSION
Answer to first question
To answer the first research question, cloud
computing offers lots of advantages than disadvantages some
of the benefits listed are lower operational costs, facilitating
an easy way to access and store and retrieve data. In
addition, cloud computing offers easy backing-up of data as
automatic scheduling is possible [4].
Answer to second research question
Some of the restrictions to cloud computing are
security challenges which is one of biggest concern in cloud
computing. Currently there is a lot of cyber-crimes;
specifically hacking is on the rise. Lastly, as indicated from the
previous section monitoring in cloud computing is very
challenging [5].
How Attica Restaurant can benefit from cloud computing
Attica Restaurant can utilize cloud computing. First
as discussed in the literature review section, the restaurant
can move their website which is currently under the banner
https://www.attica.com.au to cloud. The organization needs
to contract Cloud Company such as Amazon to host their site.
In addition, AWS caters a spectrum of clients and customers
as it provides on –demand cloud computing assets. This
means that the restaurant can manage and build their
website and applications on AWS without the requirement of
a data center.
Second, Attica Restaurant can utilize AWS to store
their private data, support its online customers, to process
the organization data, and to manage the peak loads. Other
benefits that the organization will reap from AWS is that the
company supplies virtual servers, allocation of IP addresses,
configuration of the organization’s wide area network, and
establishment of firewalls. Some of the products which Attica
Restaurant will benefit from AWS cloud provider are Amazon
route 53, Amazon EC2, Elastic load balancing, Amazon ECS,
and auto scaling. Depending on the needs of the restaurant,
the organization can make use of AWS key services which are
CloudFront, Amazon S3, and Glacier, and Amazon EBS. In
addition, the organization provides AWS directory service and
AWS identity, and access management. Other benefits which
the organization will reap from are high functionality and
scalability, dynamic and flexible operations, intuitive, easy to
use, and real time access of data.
RESULT
From the articles and all the resources reviewed in
this paper, cloud computing is nothing new since distributed
systems have existed for several years. It is also clear that
organizations are moving towards moving their data or
information from their data centers into the cloud. As
highlighted in the previous sections data management in
cloud computing usually addresses some of the challenges in
managing large collections of data in an organization data
centers. It is evident that cloud computing is not intended to
replace data centers but to offer another choice which
organizations can take advantage of. One of the issues with
cloud computing is that most of the cloud users are unaware
of cloud security. In fact organizations never worry about

cloud security since they think there are in the hands an
expert. This means that as Attica Restaurant considers
moving some of its services to the cloud-based platform,
security ought not to be under-appreciated. They should
maintain control over their critical data, infrastructure, and
services. Another suggested controls by cloud experts is using
categorical data so as to prevent data privacy concerns. Also
Attica Restaurant needs to merge categorical records and to
limit the disclosure of their confidential data. Other methods
proposed on cloud security are data perturbation disclosure
of the sensitive data while at the same time providing data to
computer analyst for data mining [6].
CONCLUSION
Even though cloud computing presents some
disadvantages it is the best option for the organization.
Organizations needs to add cloud computing technology to
their basket as one of the requirements. One of the listed
benefits from this paper are it offers availability, reduces the
cost of organization operation, and offering dynamic and
flexible operations.
