Summary of the article
The title of the selected article is “Integration of Cloud computing and
Internet of Things: A survey" which was written by Alessio and others in the
year 2015. Thus journal is founded on cloud computing where the
investigators studied the key aspects of cloud computing and IoT enabled
devices. This paper examines the significance of cloud and IoT technologies
in this generation and highlights the basic concept behind these
technologies (Botta, De Donato, Persico, & Pescapé, 2016). According to the
authors, cloud computing and IoT both are different information
technologies that help the consumers for improving the performance of
computing devices. In this article, the researchers mainly focus on the
addition of cloud and IoT.
The authors reported that safety is a major issue associated with
cloud computing and IoT networks that directly impacts on the sensitive
data of the consumers. The authors reported that the term IoT is completely
grounded on the brainy and self-configuring nodes linked in global and
dynamic infrastructure. This research paper included numerous sections,
for example, background and basic concepts, cloud and IoT, applications,
challenges and so on. It is found that safety of data is a main problem linked
with both technologies but it is very significant for customers to usage true
networks while accessing such kinds of services.
Critique of the methods used
The authors examined that IoT is powered by the new improvements
of devices and communication systems but things involved in such process
are more complex and difficult. IoT has remarkable effects on home and
workplace by which the consumers can connect numbers of devices with
each other and perform data communication activities. There are numerous
networks involve in the IoT for example, RFID, wireless sensor networks,

and so on that for performing communication between the devices (Zissis, &
Lekkas, 2012). The authors stated that cloud computing is a kind of model
which is able to enable ubiquitous, on-demand network access and
convenient in order to control the personal data of the consumers.
Moreover, it is a troublesome information skill with deep insinuations
for the distribution of internet facilities which is now used in the many
business communities. The authors also summarized the key features of
cloud computing technology and identified that major three types of
services included in the cloud technology, for example, SaaS, PaaS, and
IaaS (Rittinghouse, & Ransome, 2017). The authors identified that data and
applications transferring both are major cloud IoT drivers falling in the
communication category. Mainly, cloud computing offers a reliable and
effective solution in order to interconnect, control and manage the
communication networks and sensitive data of the users. Cloud-based
services provide virtually unlimited processing abilities and on-demand
models that help the companies for enhancing the performance of
developed systems (Hashem, et al., 2015).
It is identified that the authors provided their views on cloud
computing and identified their applications along with the challenges faced
by the consumers. After reviewing the entire paper it is found that the
authors adopted a mixed research design which contained both qualitative
and quantitative methods. Mainly, qualitative design focused on the
theoretical nature of the investigation and quantitative design allowed the
data related to cloud computing (Chen, Jiao, Li, & Fu, 2015). It is reported
that research design helped the researchers for developing the effective
hypothesis and avoiding the research gaps occurred in the research. With
the help of such research design, the authors controlled and managed the
flow of information.
