Use of Cloud Computing in Enterprises

This presentation discusses the concepts of cloud computing, its benefits, and the three infrastructure services it provides. It also justifies the use of PaaS based cloud services for web infrastructure and outlines the process of moving to a cloud platform. References are provided for further reading.

CONCEPTS OF CLOUD COMPUTING
• It is an emerging technology, which is based on the internet and is
connected to remote servers
• Cloud Computing helps in maintaining the applications and data
• The cloud helps in accessing the database from anywhere
irrespective of geographical location (Dinh et al., 2013)
• They can provide services over the internet network such as WAN,
VPN or LAN
• Applications such as web conferencing, customer relationship
management (CRM) and e-mail are provided by cloud computing

BENEFITS OF CLOUD COMPUTING
The primary benefits of cloud computing involves the following :
• Efficiency
• Flexibility
• Strategic Value
• Accessibility to Automatic Updates (Bora & Ahmed, 2013)

CHOICE OF INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICE
The cloud computing services provides three kinds of infrastructure
services. These include:
• Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
• Platform as a Service (PaaS)
• Software as a Service (SaaS)

JUSTIFICATION OF THE WEB INFRASTRUCTURE
Based on the discussion, it would be highly recommended that Regional
Gardens should make use of the PaaS based cloud services. The developers
of the web based application would not worry regarding the setting or
managing the infrastructure of storage, servers, databases and network.

PROCESS OF MOVING TO CLOUD PLATFORM
The migration strategy to the cloud computing platform comprises of four
major parts:
1. Choosing the right provider of the cloud services
2. Preparing and Planning
3. Migration of Applications and Data to the Cloud
