Introduction
With the widespread adoption of the cloud computing in the different industries and still
this is expanding. With the enhanced flexibility in for computation power as well as storage
capacity and infrastructure the organization can potentially increase their revenue from the
business, expand their target market as well as create and exploit available opportunities. For
this reason, the cloud services play very crucial role in the smart economy for the business
organizations.
Critically evaluation of IaaS, SaaS and PaaS models
Platform-as-a-service can be considered as the important platform as well as the
environment that is beneficial for the developers. In the particular platform, the developers can
write codes as per the specification of the platform. PaaS layer can be considered as an
important type of abstraction layer that takes place between the SaaS layers and IaaS Layers.
SaaS
In cloud environment On-demand software services are called as the Software-as-a-
Service. This is considered as the software service delivery model that is used by the end users
and maintained by the service providers. It contributes in software development and data
association process that can be hosted through cloud. In order to access SaaS, the web browsing
can be done by the users. In the current scenario, SaaS has become quite popular among the
organizations and including the collaboration, accounting, Customer relationship management,
service desk and delivery related activities, the effective business application system can be
introduced through SaaS. It has been identified that in the year 2010, the sales of SaaS sales have
reached almost 10 billion $. In the year 2011 the sales revenue also got increased and it reached
12.1billion $, which is equivalent to the climb 20.7% of the sales revenue of 2010. It can be
assumed that in the year 2015, the SAAS revenue may get doubled from the scale of 2010 sales.
Software can be considered as the Service model that is being developed based on the
multi-tenant architecture. It contributes in enabling single version application with single
configuration among the customers. In terms of avoiding the conflicts as well as providing the
scalability, using multiple machines the application can be installed. In some cases, multi-
tenancy is being avoided by SaaS. Other mechanisms are being used rather than the multi

tendency. Based on the virtualization in which customers from the large group are being
managed in the replacement of multi-tenancy.
IaaS
Infrastructure as a service or the SaaS is defined as the main base of cloud computing
that contributes in providing delivery of computing as a shared service. It also contributes in
reducing the operational cost for the maintenance of hardware and investment cost. While
making the infrastructure, it is important to make it reliable as well as flexible so that easy
implementation as well as operational operations of applications.
The resource delivery process such as servers, network and storage components as a
service are included in this. Maintenance of full scalability as well as less cost of ownership are
the important characteristics of SaaS. By continuing this, it can be said that SaaS significantly
contributes in ensuring the maintenance of hardware by controlling the administration
application. In order to promote services to the subscribers, the enterprise infrastructure can be
improvised by using the SaaS
PaaS
The Infrastructure as a service or IaaS is the most important cloud computing paradigm.
With IaaS delivery model the users get pre-configured hardware resources in order to use for
development and deployment services. These resources are provided through virtual interface
via internet. Compared to the PaaS and SaaS, the Infrastructure as a service does not provide any
applications or OS (operating system) and id left to the user for implementation. This kind of
service is for only enabling the user access to required infrastructure in order to support that
installation and use of the software. IaaS is also help in providing extra storage to the
organization in order have data backups, increased network bandwidth so that an organization
can deploy and maintains website server, or even provide access to the high configuration
computing that was previously not accessible to the small organization. With the popular IaaS
service providers such as Google’s Compute Engine, Amazon EC2, IBM SoftLayer and are
helping the huge segment of business organizations with their computation needs.
